Hayley Marshall x Mikaelson Fem!Reader - The Originals, Season 2, Episode 14 - "I Love You, Goodbye" - On the day of Hayley's wedding, you give her a tearful goodbye as she departs for her new life and alliance. I thought of this in five seconds and wrote it in eight minutes, don't blame me.

With a bouquet of roses and various flowers in my arms that Davina had made for me, I knocked on Hayley's door, careful not to drop any of the precious cargo. "Come in!" she said from inside. Hayley turns, her posture relaxing when she sees me. "So, how do I look?"

"You look stunning," l said, absolutely at a loss for words. "Jackson's not gonna know what hit him." The sight of her proves to me I am still very much yet alive; she is my light.

Hayley blushes, putting down Hope in the cradle to place the flowers in a vase. "Can you come help me with my necklace?"

Of course, I complied, taking my time as I clasped it around her neck. "There. Beautiful."

"I don't love him, Y/N," she said suddenly, catching me off guard

"I don't love him, Y/N," she said suddenly, catching me off guard. "Ever since the day I have met you... I have felt everything, feelings I imagined were locked away forever. And it was rare, what we had. Except — you've never told me how you felt. And I know why; your family isn't the type. You run away from murderers, you defend your kin, you really don't have much time in between that to profess grand declarations of love."

For a moment, I paused, unsure of what to say. Last night, I nursed a bottle of beer in my office and threw out at least a hundred pages worth of speeches. This one, I didn't memorize; it just came out.

"You will always be a Mikaelson," I said, my voice beginning to crack and tears streaming out, no matter how much I'd attempt to hold them back. "You will always have a home with us, no matter how dangerous it might be. If you ever need us - we're just a balcony away, you can visit anytime. If not, then the holidays. And if Jackson does anything, I'll get the entire family to come for his ass and rip him apart, limb from limb. Just... please come and visit, I don't think any of us will actually get through this hellshit of an eternity without you."

"I'll be fine, love." Hayley attempts to smile, but her eyes are telling a different story as she leans in to hug me tightly, her tears staining my gown and mine likewise. Yet, neither of us wanted to let go first.

"Sorry... for the dress," I said quickly when we pulled apart, brushing them away. "God, why am I such an emotional mess, and it's not even your actual wedding yet."

"We all love you, even though we might not show it at times," I continued. "Hybrid, vampire, werewolf... hell, we're always gonna love you, Hayley Marshall, regardless. I hope Jackson realizes that; if he doesn't, he can just go and fuck off."

She lightly laughs, wiping away the tears as she does so. "Jack's a good guy, don't worry. I promise, he won't hurt me."

My eyes softened, grazing over the gauzy sleeves of her dress that made her look absolutely ethereal. "He's a lucky man though, and I hope he knows that every day. He will be the one who will see the children that you bring into this world, he will be the one to see Hope grow up, he will be the one that receives your love and watches you grow old, and I hope he doesn't break your heart."

"You always did have a gift for making people cry," she grins, despite her tears. Hayley walks over to the record player on her nightstand and plays I'll Be Seeing You, holding her hand out for me. "What do you say, Mikaelson; up for one last dance?"

I giggle and curtsy, gratefully taking it. "Always, Andrea."

When we dance, it's as if the world disappears. It's only us; we can believe that we are invincible. The only thing I can think of is how much I love her; all thoughts of her getting married fly out the window. It's just us.

When the song ends, she leans forward and abruptly kisses me, making all rational thoughts rush down my brain. As she pins me against the wall, I can't help but feel like this is the sort of thing we'll be finding ourselves doing very much in the future... no, she'll be gone forever. This isn't going to be some Emily Dickinson—Sue Gilbert kind of arrangement.

But then again, she's only one balcony away.

And just as quickly as it comes, she pulls away, her eyes downcast. "I shouldn't have. The wedding's in three minutes."

Hayley readjusts her hair and her dress, wiping off the lipstick stains to make herself look presentable and prepared. "I'm sorry, Y/N. In another version of this world, in another life. Until then, at least I can count on the fact that you'll be there when I arrive tonight."

"Always and forever, Hayley, for you. Until the day I die."

I don't add the part where I tell her that I love her, regardless of how much I want to. Maybe it was hidden between the lines, maybe she didn't understand; but nevertheless, I hope she knows.
