Isla's POV:
Finley and I haven't spoken since I showed up at two in the morning at her front door. Even when I was there, trying to console her, she only wanted to be around Eric. Maybe she found comfort in him that I didn't understand. But, it hurts when your only friend doesn't
want to talk to you.
Leaving her at Eric's house may not have been the greatest idea. So, that's why I'm here, at her front door. Again. To officially apologize and give her some reason.
I pull into her driveway and immediately notice my brother's truck. Fuck, I'd thought he had gone home by now. Did he stay the night? I make my way to the front door and just as I'm about to knock, the door opens and I'm met with my brother. In pajamas. "Uhm, hi. Is Finley in there?" He crosses his arms and leans against the doorframe. "Yeah, why?" "I need to talk to her. About leaving," I mutter the last part, staring at the ground.
Eric moves from the door, letting me inside. "She's still sleeping. Wait on the couch, I'm going to the store," He points to me then the couch. I nod my head at him. "Why are you leaving in pj's?" I stop him before he closes the door. "Because Isla. I can," He shut and locked the door and I turned on the tv, waiting for Finley.
Two episodes of Grey's Anatomy later, Finley's door opens and she walks out with a twisted shirt at least two sizes too big for her. In a yawn she asks, "Where's Eric?" she rubs her eyes as I roll mine. Of course, she wants him. "Uh, he went to the store, can we talk?" I question as I watch her walk to the kitchen. "In a minute, I need to wake up first," she walks to the fridge and pushes a cup into the outside, dispensing ice and then water. "I'm gonna go shower, then we can talk," Finley takes the cup back into her bedroom and I continue watching Grey's.
Another couple of episodes later, Eric walks through the door as Finely walks out of her room with dripping wet hair. "You're dripping," Eric says with arms full of groceries. "Oh really? Thanks," she scrunches her nose at him as she sits on the couch. "You guys are gross," I point between Eric and Finley. Eric shrugs and Finley giggles. "Anyway, IjustwantedtotellyouthatI'msorryforleavingyouandthatInevermeanttohurtyouIjusthaveareallybadpast," I spit out and am now out of breath for saying that all in one go.
Finley's eyes widen, "Oh, uh, okay. That isn't why I haven't been talking to you," she lets out a fake laugh. "Well, then why haven't you been talking to me? What did I do?" She laughs again but this time a little more real. "I don't know actually, I think it was because of my mom. At first, it was because you left me but I got over that. Then my mom got sick and my whole life kind of went downhill," She meets me with a tight smile and we both start laughing. We laugh so hard we can't breathe. As we are clenching our stomachs, we notice Eric standing over us. "Are you hungry?" I look at Finley and can tell she's still holding in a laugh. Which immediately erupts from her mouth as soon as her eyes meet mine. "Well when you guy's giggle-fest is over, you have to cook because I'm a horrible chef." Eric shrugs and plants himself on the opposite end of the couch.
Finley and I put away most of the groceries, except the things we need for breakfast. While I scramble eggs because, to be honest, that's all I know how to do, Finley begins mixing flour and sugar and whatever else she needs to make whatever she's making. "Hey Fin, I need to tell you something," I pause on stirring the eggs and Finley turns off her mixer. "Yeah, anything," She puts her back against the counter, crossing her arms. I turn back to the stove and continue stirring so the eggs don't burn. "I Uhm, well I met this girl," I look up at Finley and I'm met with her face glowing in happiness. She runs, as much as you can run in a kitchen, over to me and wraps her arms around my neck, "Isla that's amazing! Tell me everything. Her name, where you guys met, the whole thing," She's jumping through the roof in excitement.
