Main Characters:

Angel (He/Him) - Typically seen as just another straight boy, he later finds out he's bisexual.  He's extroverted and well known throughout high school.  Angel thinks he's got his shit together, but he is terribly wrong.  When a new kid shows up, it causes him to reconsider who he thought he was.  This surely doesn't help him with keeping up his image at school because his small town isn't so welcoming to anyone that stands out.  The pressure is on as he deals with the stress of school, figuring out his sexuality, tolerating his annoying friend group, and just growing up in general.

Oliver (He/They) - Stands out from a lot of the other students in his grade.  They're the new kid that Angel's interested in.  After moving across the U.S. from San Francisco, California to a small town in Pennsylvania his whole life was turned upside down.  Now they're in a new school with people he doesn't know, people who don't seem to relate to him.  All they want to do is go back to California where it's easier to be queer.  Oliver is cis, but he doesn't mind the sound of they/them pronouns being used in reference to them.  He is gay, as well as asexual (homoromantic).

Side Characters (Queer Friend Group):

Andrew or Andy (He/Him) - Seen as the quiet kid, generally misunderstood, and the only trans kid in his school...so he thinks.  Andrew has had a tough time coming to terms with his gender identity.  After coming out to his friend who turned out to be a complete asshole, the word spread around.  Ever since he was outed by someone he used to trust, he hasn't let anyone in besides his best friend and older brother.

Millie (She/Her) - Became more well known for dating Angel in middle school.  She struggles to connect with her close minded family and her sexuality as she comes to the realization that she may not be straight.  Millie is under extreme pressure due to the watching eye of those around her, just like Angel.  She and Angel have a lot more in common than she knew, but eventually she'll find out that he isn't a dumb ass after all.  She comes to the conclusion that she's pansexual later on.

Hazel (She/They) - Is seen as a cis girl just about every where they go

Hazel (She/They) - Is seen as a cis girl just about every where they go.  She believes this until they realize that they don't exactly feel like one.  She's in the same popular friend group as Angel.  They don't know him too well, hangs around a group of ignorant girls during the beginning of the book.  Hazel gives up on them later on and sticks with her much less problematic friend group.  They later figure out they're non binary with the help of Andrew.
