The Last Day

Luke was staring at me over the lunch table, while I stared right in back at him. This had been going on for a good two minutes and while my eyes were starting to sting a little bit, I hadn't blinked. The only bad thing was he hadn't blinked either.

Neither of us had officially said anything, nor did we place a bet but at this point it didn't need to be voiced. Almost all things that could be considered a competition had a prize at the end, and I usually lost. I'm sure Luke was anticipating how I would manage to cheat at a staring contest but I had decided that since nothing had officially been said, that I would play fair.

Kota and Silas sat on either side of me on the bench while North sat next to Luke. The others were either in the grass or in Mr. Blackbourne's office. North and Silas were chatting happily, and all of the boys were super relaxed even though we were at school.

Luke's eye twitched and I couldn't help but grin at him. If he didn't try to cheat I would be the winner, as long as I could outlast him, that is.

Silas had his arm around my waist and his hand was interlaced with mine, as I had my arm dropped across my lap to hold his hand. I heard Silas and North stop talking and then Silas murmured something in Greek. I saw it out of my peripheral vision, the way North uncapped his bottle of water and leaned into Luke. Luke, for his part, shifted away thinking that North was trying to reach for something.

North dumped the rest of the water in his bottle, which had been about half full, on Luke's head. Luke jerked up, breaking eye contact and losing the competition while slugging North in the shoulder. At the same time Silas leaned in real close and nuzzled my neck.

"You win Aggele mou," he murmured gently.

I giggled and Luke snickered, shaking off his hair and getting me wet. Alias barked a laugh while lifting me out of me seat and pulling me away from the spray of water. I was dressed in some nice Jean shorts and one of Dr. Green's button down lavender blouses. I had the outfit paired with some nice white high top converse.

The bell rang and I gave a groan, but it didn't stop my smile from growing.

Silas smirked and leaned down, kissing my lips super softly. When he pulled away I couldn't help but grin goofily. He winked and slipped his arm around my waist, "let's go."

He didn't have to tell me twice. I practically skipped with him to our chemistry class. We had changed from bio to chem at second semester and now we didn't have the class with Mr. Morris, but we had it with a nice older man named Mr. Stello. He was hilarious and cracked jokes and aside from Dr. Green and Mr. B, he was my favorite teacher.

Chemistry was a blur, we didn't do much aside from talk and play pictionary. We were each allowed to pick a partner and I chose the obvious. I had played this games with the guys so many times that by now I knew what they were drawing, even if it looked nothing like the actual object.

Needless to say, we dominated. Mr. Stello bid us a farewell and as we left the class he gave us all a pick at a candy he had in his bowl. It was weird. This class was a junior class, but it was mostly sophomores in it. I don't know how it happened but Silas and I got lumped in with the other kids who were smarter than your average Joe. He and I had actually made a few friends in this class, like Jaime, and Allie. They're twins.

I think it wasn't so much that the entire school was filled with bad kids, but more like there were more bad kids than there were good ones. All of them, like Wil, had been overlooked. They ducked their heads and stayed out of sight.

Silas gave me a warm hug and kissed my temple at the same time, "be good for Victor," he murmured.

I grinned and kissed him, "no."
