The stories only got worse and worse after Luke. We all took turns and when that fizzled out we just sat around and talked about nothing in particular. Kota and Silas started arguing about whether or not college should be mandatory, and North started to catch on to just how many s'mores Luke had been sneaking past him. I was sitting in Gabriel's lap by the end of the night, and he had managed to put my hair up in some sort of loose braid.
Not meaning to, I yawned. It was as if a switch had been flipped, the one little movement caused all the guys to stop whatever they were doing or talking about, and look in my direction. I felt my cheeks flame up and I pressed a hand to my cheek to hide it a bit.
Nathan grinned and stood up, "Bedtime! Who is Peanut sleeping with tonight?" he demanded, looking around.
Behind me I heard Gabriel scoff, "Make her sound bad," he grumbled.
Nathan's face was full of shock and then he glared at Gabriel, "That's not what I meant and you know it," he started, his face getting red.
I stood up, pushing the braid over my shoulder and looking at them all, "I'm with Gabriel and Kota," I said, making Nathan stop whatever he was about to say with a soft kiss goodnight.
I went around the fire and said goodnight to each of them in turn. Afterwards I went to the tent that I knew to be Kota's and Gabriel's, and flopped onto my sleeping bag. Watching the guys at the fire had only made me feel worse, and realize more than ever that it didn't feel right without Owen. Heck, it didn't feel right without Sean and I knew he was just working a late shift, and would be here later.
I quickly got changed and snuggled under my blankets, someone outside the tent, Kota, tapped on the door way before speaking, "Sang? Are you all changed?" he asked respectfully.
I nodded before realizing that he probably couldn't see it, "Yeah, coast is clear, Kota my dear," I said making myself smile.
Kota chuckled as he stepped out of his shoes and into the tent, he crawled over to his backpack and pulled out a pair of sweats and a shirt. He held them both up and with my nod of approval, threw them onto his sleeping bag and started tugging off his shirt.
I meant to look away, I really did, but as he changed his shirt I unashamedly watched the muscles in his arms and tummy ripple which each movement. He wasn't looking at me, probably thinking that I'd shut my eyes or something, and while he reached down for the button of his jeans that's exactly what I did.
Gabriel came into the tent and I heard Kota balk and then scold him for having shoes in the tent.
"Oi, but Trouble has her shoes the fuck in here, why the shit can't I?"
I rolled my eyes and covered my smile with my blanket, keeping my eyes shut.
"She's prettier than you," Kota replied without hesitation.
I heard a thump and then Gabriel was cursing under his breath. Both of them quickly changed out of their clothes and into their pajamas before crawling into their respective sleeping bags, and I finally opened my eyes. I was facing Gabriel, who had his back to me.
While resisting the urge to roll my eyes at his pouting, I sat up and knee walked over to where my shoes lay next to my bag. Kota sat up to watch me, his green eyes seeming different without the glasses. I unzipped the corner of the entrance, and put my shoes with Kota's and Gabriel's. After a pause, I fixed Gabriel's so that they were sitting on the ground properly instead of laying on their sides.
Before I ducked my head back into the tent I caught sight of North sitting next to the fire pit still. His eyes were on me, and he was leaned forward in his spot, arms resting on his knees and hands clasped together. He flickered a smile my way, and instead of returning the gesture I bossily pointed my finger towards his tent. His faint smile turned into a wide grin and he rolled his eyes while shaking his head.
