Edited: March 4, 2024The courtyards burned. Large yellow and orange flames that were nearly twice as tall as the buildings themselves reached high towards the dark night sky. They reached higher and higher until the wind pushed them over. Gray, black smoke scattered through the air, suffocating everyone in proximity and stinging their eyes. Embers flickered off of burning wood and attached themselves to screaming disciples.
"Save me! Save me! Senior martial brother, save me!"
"Please! Please! I beg you! Save me!"
"Junior! Junior, please!"
"Help! Please! Please! Please! PLEASE!!"
The blood curdling screams of the burning rang throughout the sect. They screamed painfully, desperately, with not a care in the world about their vocal cords, only wanting to be able to live, to survive. Studying for so long at Red Mountain Peak, the disciples hoped to be able to achieve great things in the future and earn some money for their families. Those who joined recently... they didn't think they would lose their lives just moments after beginning their cultivation. They were all still children, young enough to have hundreds of years ahead of them, so they couldn't die, not yet.
However, the fire was too strong.
It wasn't a normal fire; it was unable to be put out with water from wells. The fire burned with spiritual energy and needed a great amount to keep it running. To even put out a fire like this, at least twice as much energy was required. It was chaotically terrifying. Such a feat like this, the spiritual energy that was fueling the fire had to come from some thousand-year immortal, but... it wasn't.
The flames were fueled by the spiritual power of a young sixteen-year-old boy, who successfully attained immortality only hours ago, yet, somehow, his power was alarming, with a range of over a mile in radius, covering every inch of land.
But, that wasn't the only problem.
No one in Red Mountain Peak cultivated with water, only with fire. With so many fire cultivators and spells, it was naturally assumed that the fire would be easily controlled, never once did anyone expect a catastrophe of this size. The firestorm could barely be controlled, even at the edges where the fire wasn't as strong. The spiritual energy from this sixteen-year-old boy fueling this fire was too overwhelming even for the immortal masters and elders of the sect.
"How nice," the boy praised himself, admiring his work. This fire was a masterpiece, the biggest fire he'd ever seen and created in his entire life. The dozens of shades of red, yellow, orange, and even blue were a beautiful sight, pleasing to his eyes.
But, it didn't satisfy him.
There was something else he wanted.
He walked through the flames calmly, brushing his fingers through the tips of the fire as he passed by, enjoying the warmth that stung his fingertips.
"Junior Martial Brother! Junior! Junior!" A voice panted behind the boy. "Junior! Please!" The person chuckled lightly, grunting as he tried to push off the rubble clamping down on his leg. "Junior Nishimura! Junior! Hey!"
The boy turned around, a dark glare in his eyes, but the person didn't seem to notice.
"Junior, I- I know I haven't treated you kindly, but please. Please, please help this senior out." The person calling out to the boy was dressed in the same black and red robes the boy was, but his clothing was in bad condition. "This senior w-will treat you better! Whatever you want! I'll be a servant, a... a slave, an assistant! I... if... if that's not your taste, I- I could even be... be your maid!"
