Last Day of School (Thank the gods!) - Kyle POV

30 5 11

It all started with the last day of school.

By this time I already knew that I was the demigod son of Zeus, lord of the sky, and my mom, Emma Peterson (actually, I already knew that part of my heritage, but whatever.

Also, I have ADHD like most demigods and get side tracked a lot. Oh, dyslexia too.)

So, I go to the new and improved Camp Demigod, which is Camp Half -Blood and Camp Jupiter combined.

All the other kids at camp are either in love with me or hate me, but I did have one friend from camp; Phoebe, daughter of Apollo, god of the sun. More on Pheebs later.

So, I only go to camp during the summer because I like to spend time with my mom and she thinks I need more "modern" education (which makes no sense, because during class I'm either getting distracted by squirrels out the window or trying to get the girls to stop staring at me and the guys to stop glaring at me.)

I'm less popular or hated at camp though, considering every guy there is good-looking.

When the last bell rang, everyone threw their papers in the air and cheered. Not me, though. My mom was waiting to drive me to camp and I was super excited to go back!

Unfortunately, I ran into the school bully, Bad Brad.

Brad has hated my guts after his girlfriend dumped him because she had a crush on me (even though she had no chance. I thought she was a monster the first time I met her.)

"Hey punk, where do you think you're going?" he said as his goons circled around me and cracked their knuckles.

I took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. Both Chiron and Lupa have told every demigod not to use their weapons or powers on mortals.

"To camp, Brad. You got a problem with that?"

"Actually, I do. 'Cuz the only place you're going is to your funeral!"

He grabbed me by the shirt and raised his fist, but as I was bracing for a world of pain, a girl's voice said, "Let him go, Brad!"

I opened my eyes and nearly fainted.

In front of me and Brad was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen in my life. And that was saying something, because I had met the Venus and Aphrodite girls.

She looked around my age and was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, and she definitely was an athlete. She had waist-length dark brown hair, high cheekbones, light caramel skin, perfect features, and the most gorgeous sea-green eyes I had ever seen.

I fell in love on sight, then wanted to smack myself for thinking something so shallow.

"I said let him go." she repeated.

Brad immediately let me go and he and his buddies started staring at her.

I felt really embarrassed that a random girl I didn't know had to stand up for me because I couldn't use my powers on that bully. (by the way, I can fly, control lightning and the weather and sometimes have a wind spirit as a horse named Tempest.)

The girl raised an eyebrow at me, causing my heart to trip over itself, and scanned Brad, from head to toe, unimpressed.

"You're drooling," she said to him.

Then, out of the shadows, some kid that was dressed fully in black but didn't seem to be emo or goth said, "Lily, come on!"

"One sec," the girl, Lily, said.

She looked me in the eye, which made it very hard to concentrate, and said, "We'll see you there."

Then she went back to the boy in black and they left.

Me, unable to process what just happened, just stood there like an idiot, giving Brad a chance to recover.

But thankfully, I have really good reflexes from almost 6 years of Camp Jupiter and Half-Blood, (I started at 9 years old, I'm 14 now) so I dodged his punch and ran for it.
