Jamie awoke in darkness. A cold chill went through her body. She looked up and saw the familiar walls of the master bedroom. She grimaced in pain. Jamie found herself back on the bed, covered with bedsheets, but her abdomen area was wrapped in bandages
"What the hell?"
She tried to get out of bed, and she heard a man's voice and said, "Please, please, careful, you have a head injury. You were greatly wounded "
Jamie looked up and her eyes widened in horror. Standing in front of her was her two times great grandfather, Dr. Richard Vannacutt.
"Do not be alarmed, child. Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Dr. Richard Benjamin Vannacutt," he introduced.
"But you're dead," she quickly said.
"Everyone says that because it's true. I'm a ghost," he said as Jamie was shocked that Dr. Vannacutt was really a ghost and she's afraid of him.
"This isn't real." Jamie quietly said
"Please, don't be afraid. The Baphomet Idol I once possessed is now gone forever," he said
Was that the ancient idol mentioned in the article?
"I don't know what that is."
"Oh."
"Why didn't you kill me?" she asked.
"Because you are family," he said.
"You know who I am?" Jamie asked
"Indeed. It seems the Vannacutt line remained strong after my death." said Richard "I know you are my great, great granddaughter. I've been watching you since you arrived."
"Watching me?"
"Only because I was curious." explained Richard "I never knew what became of my family all those years ago. My son, Benjamin, was my only child. He was a small boy when I died."
Dr. Vannacutt picked up a small towel on the nightstand. He went to move towards Jamie, who flinched. He cleaned Jamie's bloodied face with the towel which was filled with water to clean.
"You're Jamie, correct?," he said.
"That's right,"
"Well, Jamie, do not be afraid of me because right now, I'm not only your great-something grandfather. I'm your doctor, so you get some rest. Then, we'll talk more about yourself tomorrow, so go get some rest," Dr. Vannacutt said as he was about to leave his bedroom.
"I have so many questions" she said
"All in due time. And just one more thing, Jamie. Don't be a stranger," Dr. Vannacutt said as he left his bedroom and disappeared, leaving Jamie to get some rest
What the hell just happened? Was this a dream?
Hours later, Jamie was dreaming when she woke up in Dr. Vannacutt's bedroom. The fireplace was lit. She heard someone or somebody screamed. She saw rose petals on the floor, so she got out of bed, left the bedroom, and she followed the rose petals trail.
Jamie followed the rose petals that led to the basement, so she went downstairs to the basement. She followed the rose petals that led to the operating room, where Dr. Vannacutt was torturing his patients to death, so she returned to the operating room. Jamie saw Dr. Vannacutt dissecting one of the men that had hurt her earlier, with two nurses by his side. Then she saw the rose petals that led to Dr. Vannacutt, and finally she fainted.
Dr. Vannacutt saw Jamie lying on the floor. He had a menacing look on his face. He was about to walk towards her, until Jamier woke up from her dream and found herself again in bed in Dr. Vannacutt's bedroom, but no rose petals. Jamie drifted back to sleep.
