TW: mentions of pills,

Janus POV
Janus walked out of his treehouse into the nice humid air that coated his scales in condensation. He went out onto the balcony and basked in the heat raining down on the busy streets. He could smell the water coating the air and looked towards the community pool that was just a glance away from his house. He rested his elbows on the rigid wooden railing and sighed contently.

All the happy Saila rested in the cool water. Tiny little Saila swam around talking with their friends. Barads flew around and sat by the pools, mingling with possible soulmates or just friends. Janus slithered back inside the home and picked up a brush and snaked it through his mess of hair. 'I need a haircut' He thought, looking at the hair at the back of his neck going down just a bit too far for his liking. He told himself 'it's whatever' and trailed down the railing in the middle of the tree he lived in and slowly climbed it upside down, his snake body trailing behind him. Janus finally got to the ground and willed himself up and looked at all the Friets, Saila, and Barads talking with each other. He smiled at them being happy and slithered to his friend's house.

She said Janus could stay at her house because the next day was his 25th birthday. That means that the meaningless first names he had imprinted on the human part of his body would finally be completed, and he could reach out to them just by writing on his skin.

He slithered a little slower as he passed a rock candy shop. His tongue flicked out of his mouth instinctively to smell the sugary treat and he slithered forward and bought a strawberry-flavored, green rock candy stick. Janus bit a piece off and felt it crunch under his teeth satisfyingly. He sighed and continued slithering.

He arrived at the tree and slithered around it, holding his rock candy stick in one hand and holding onto the tree with the other. He finally made it up to the expansive house and set his body on her floor as she greeted him enthusiastically. "Hey, Janus! Oh is that from the rock candy shop down the street?" He smiled at her and nodded as she chuckled. "Ohhhh~ that place is so good... I love the cherry-flavored one. What's your favorite flavor?" He sat down on a chair next to her couch and proceeded to tell her his favorite was green.

"Oh, the green one is an easy second for me. It's just kinda weird to me that they made strawberry green and not pink or something." She said closing her eyes. "It kinda reminds me of gummy bears.." she perked up as if she remembered something. "Oh yeah did I tell you there's a new gummy thing coming out? It's supposed to be coke flavored and shaped like a coke bottle, but instead of them being in mixed packages it's just the coke flavored ones!" She squeaked with practical stars in her eyes. "That sounds so cool! We are buying fifty packages when they finally come out." Janus said and she nodded quickly. He stretched on her couch and sighed contemptibly, his scales rubbing the fabric on her bright yellow seats.

Janus woke up the next day with a headache. His head was throbbing and he rubbed his temple to try and soothe it. He groaned as he got up from the comfortable couch and pulled himself to the kitchen. He popped open one of the cabinets and weaved his hands around various over-the-counter medicines until he reached the pain-relief ones. He snagged his hands on some of the pills and strategically pulled some from the small bottle. He got a cup of water and accidentally caused a bit of a ruckus by knocking some of the cups over. A single cup toppled over and before he was able to reach it, the cup smashed on the floor and the glass splattered on the kitchen tile.

Janus chugged the water just as Cristy walked in. He put the cup in the sink and sighed. He could feel Cristy looking at him so he turned around. Her yellow eyes that contrasted with her darker skin stared at him as he raised an eyebrow and still got no response. "Sorry," She said softly. "I couldn't get much sleep last night." She said as she yawned and the mood lightened by a landslide.
