I must admit, arriving at Charlene's house was just plain sad.

I knocked on her door several times until she had finally opened the door, revealing her unfamiliar face. She was always cheerful and happy at times when I'm with her and seeing her like this—puffy reddened eyes, hair messed up in different directions and her make-up; smudged around her face made me instantly hug her tight.

She grabbed my hand softly then, leading me inside her house to her living room after she closed the door and locked it, as we were now sitting on one of her couches.

Clearing my throat, I begin. "Charlene... I-is it okay for you to talk about it? I mean, I'm not trying to force you to spill out all the things that happened, I just, I don't like seeing you like this." She doesn't respond, so I continue. "I'm not trying to be too nosy or anything I just really want to help you out with whatever you're dealing out with right now."

She finally nods, letting out quiet sobs "I... Andre, we... well, we b-broke up...I was calling him multiple times and h-he wouldn't answer his phone since lunch a-and I didn't want to be this really clingy, annoying girlfriend so I stopped calling him for a while, and after  two hours I t-tried contacting him again. He wasn't answering...so I got really worried and went to his a-apartment." She pauses and starts to tear up again.

I immediately take her into my arms, rubbing circles on her back. What could've that monster done to her now? "It's okay if you do not want to continue telling the full story now. I know how hard it is to spit out everything while the event is still raw from your mind—"

"No!" She shakes her head furiously in protest. "I-I heard e-every single thing he was saying! He w-was hooking up with another person... a-and you know what?"

My voice was full of sympathy. "What..?"

"I-it was n-not just a random chick...it was fucking Kathleen!" My eyes widen at the mention of her name, my hands balled into a fist.

I didn't really know how to feel about this to be quite honest. Kathleen was also my friend. I do know that there had been this tension between her and Andre when Charlene first introduced him to us as his boyfriend, but really? Them hooking up with each other wasn't really the thought I had in mind. I couldn't believe that she was actually that kind of person who would cling to a man she knows that's already in a relationship.

That's just like finding out that the person who you are in love with is in a relationship with your best-est of all friend—it hurts so damn much.

"Charlene... Are you sure he was really cheating on you with...Kathleen?"

"Yes!" she cried out. "I didn't want to jump onto conclusions, if that's what you mean, so I eavesdropped and I heard Kathleen moaning his freaking name out!"

"Charlene, please try to calm down at least." I begged but she of course, didn't. Instead, she got out of my embrace and started to throw a small tantrum.

"You don't understand, Tanya! I wouldn't just... fucking calm down after what happened! I wouldn't be able to just... erase that memory in my head, no. I... No!" She breaks down on the floor as I immediately try to comfort her with all my effort again due to my lack of knowledge for comforting people. "Why..? W-what did I ever do to deserve this?!"

"Shh..." I soothe her back once again her muffled voice becoming inaudible. I help her get up with all my strength, leading her to her room.

Once I safely tucked her in to bed, she starts to mumble. "Tanya..."

I turn around, her eyes still closed. "Mhmm..."

"Please stay... you could stay on the couch, j-just please..." Her voice trails off. For a moment, I stay on my spot, waiting for her to continue until I heard her snore softly.

Turning her knob, I close the door as quiet as possible and lie down her couch, falling into a deep slumber.

I get out of my car, locking the door before double-checking it. I walk towards the familiar door, fishing the keys out of my pocket and unlocking our front door. "Mom?"

  No answer.

I drop my bag on the coffee table, walking towards my mother's door.  I eye the unfamiliar accessory in front of her door. It said 'Knock before you go in'

Shrugging, I ignore the silly object and open her door to check her up, but my jaw instantly drops down, my eyes traumatized at the sight before me.

  "What the hell?!"
