The weekend went by quickly, too quickly if you asked me. I introduced Spencer to my family, but this time I introduced him as what he truly was: my boyfriend. My sisters were gleeful and everything went surprisingly well. My mom hugged me tightly and told me how proud she was of me, and how proud my dad would be of me. I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a few tears. I offered Spencer the guest room so he wouldn't get lonely but he politely declined, claiming that he felt that he needed to stay at his house for the time being. That doesn't mean I won't be a frequent visitor.

"Are you sure, Derek?" Spencer asked as we pulled into the parking lot Monday morning.

"Pretty boy, I'm sure. You matter more to me than everyone in that building combined."

"Even Penny."

"Fine, there's a tie. But everyone else. Besides, I'm sure our friend, Jeff told everyone by now. Why wait?" Just saying his name caused my blood to boil, but I pushed it down, for Spencer's sake. With a small smile, Spencer nodded his earnestly. I got out of the car and ran over to Spencer's door and opened it up for him. Playfully, I bowed and offered him by hand. Chuckling, he took my hand and grasped it tightly with my own. "Ready, kid?"

"I'm not a kid. But, yes, I am." And with that, I lead us into the building.

When we walked through the doors, we were attacked by Penny wrapping her arms around us both. "Oh, babies, I'm so proud of you both!" Chuckling, I wrapped my free arm kind her waist, bringing her close to me.

"Thank you, baby girl." Out of the corner of my eye, I Spencer blush and tentatively hug her back. "I'm guessing the word got around fast?" I questioned when the hug was broken.

"Oh, that the school's star football player is gay and dating the residential genius? Naaahhhhhhh-yeah. Like wild fire." I glimpsed at Spencer quickly, watching for his reaction. For a moment, his body tensed but he quickly relaxed into my side.

"Well, then no reason to not do this," then I quickly leaned in and kissed Spencer on the cheek; it was chaste but I needed to reassure him that he wasn't alone in this. "You okay, baby boy?" I whispered into his ear, quietly enough so only he could hear me. Silently, he nodded, shuffling closer to my side.

"Awwwwww, you guys are so cute." Penny squealed, clapping her hands together. I rolled my eyes and lead Spencer down the hallway. Everyone averted their eyes, refusing to look at Spencer and me. It continued like this until we got to Spencer's locker where JJ and her boyfriend, Will, were awaiting us. JJ ran and gave Spencer a big hug, other his free arm he wrapped it around her waist and kissed her on the top of the head. She then turned and gave me a small hug as well. Will walked over to us, patting both Spencer and me on the back before wrapping his arms around JJ's waist. Suddenly Mr. Rossi and Mr. Hotchner, the vice principal and principal, came around the corner. Mr. Hotchher spoke first,

"Derek, can I see you in my office?" Dumbfounded, I looked to Spencer who nodded and gave me a small, reassuring smile. Quietly, I followed Mr. Hotchner to his office. "Have a seat, Derek," he said, taking his own. Hastily, I took the empty chair in front of his desk. "So, I assume the news about and Mr. Reid is true?"

"Um, yes, sir."

"Usually, I don't talk to students about their personal life, but...Derek, did you know that your father and I were good friends?"

"Um, actually, I didn't know that, sir."

"Well, we were and he knew all along the risk of his job and seeing as you would attending here during these complicated years in your life, he asked me to keep an eye on you if anything were to happen to him. I promised him that I was always keep an eye on you, be there for whenever you may need me. I know it may not seem like it but I've been keeping a close eye on you, Derek. I was waiting until you I thought you would need my support, before this, I saw that you were handling very well on your own and there would be no need to spill all of this on to you. Now, in light of recent news that seems to be circulating my school, I just wanted to let you know that my office door is always open if you ever need anything. And I knew your dad very well, son; I know that he would be very proud of you." I sat there for a moment in silence, not sure what to say.
