A feeling of uncertainty and dread mixed in within the thick fog which surrounded my figure, and from a distance I'm sure you wouldn't be able to see me. As the necks of the trees only reached up to around two metres until they were engulfed by the clouds that hung low, heavy with rain.

Although it was only noon, the hidden sky was deep and dark: the moon barely peeking it's weak aura of light through the lonely fog. The path of overgrown moss and plump mushrooms travelled through the forest, winding itself carefully through every crevice of the tree.

Myself, lonely and cowardly, trembled as each step through the forest felt like a journey rather than a simple walk. With a purpose to get home, safely, the steps turned to strides, my own head turning in suspense and searching for any signs of a serial killer. None. Oh- I was safe for sure.

Though usually, the evening strolls like these were calm and tranquil, a new atmosphere of my fate lied amongst the trees. I wasn't used to the sky becoming so dark so quickly, and evidently it made me a little on edge.

Hope assured me that I'd make it. Rationality told me I'd be fine.

My green shirt hung comfortably atop of my dark tee-shirt, the sleeves veiling my hands and protecting them from the slight chill of the wind that passed me. Brown jeans were baggy as usual, but now without a belt it held barely against my waist and almost brushed the ground on every step. But I loved it- an oufit that hid my figure.

Clearly I loved being hidden, especially from other people, and fortunately with a power like invisabilty it really helps. Though I was told I could only use said power in certain situations. And feeling a little scared was not said situation.

'snap' the sound of a branch- or twig echoed in the distance, perhaps to my right. And abruptly, my head swung towards the area of the sound, eyes scanning feircly. Now the forest had fell silent again but my posture still stiffened in fear of an intruder- or maybe just a woodland creature.

Wavering inhales and sharp exhales were made in an attempt of calming my nerves, and the blood that was rushing through my body, caused by the ragged beats of my heart. The fight or flight hormones within me died down- and honestly in any bad situation I would rather fly than fight.

I picked my feet up and and stepped over the piles of logs and twigs that covered the path haphazardly, the ends of my shoes scuffing the bark, testing my balance as I struggled to get through. The moss and mud had gained forces to keep my shoes in a constant dirty state.

'crackle' a similar sound was present but this time it stayed 'crackling snap' a wet branch for sure had been toyed with at this very moment as the noise was gaining volume in an unusual manner.

I clung on to the ancient tree to my right, nails digging in for support. Whip, my head spun around again in the direction of the mysterious sound and my posture remained still- no attention should be drawn to me.

Definitively, an unkown person was around the area, and for a strange purpose of breaking and snapping a branch, although the sound had been so loud surely the tree may have been used with extreme force, unnatural to other humans.

And as the thick luminous fog had spread around the forest like the waves that cover the sand, it was a near impossible sight for spotting any people.

Then a loud thump had vibrated through the ground, and I could feel it through the tree which I was gripping, and I was sure that a tree had just fallen to it's death. It had jolted me, and started my heart beat again but quicker and louder as fear filled my veins.
