Luz Noceda stood on the porch, hand shaking as she was about to knock on the door. Her friends were at her side but she was nervous as ever. The last time she had seen her Mom was over a month ago, and she'd promised that she would come back to the human realm.

She would come back to her mother and stay.

Or more like leave. Leave all her friends behind in the Demon Realm. Gus, Willow, her girlfriend Amity, and even Hunter.

They were all right there beside her, but when it came down to it they didn't belong in this realm with her. She'd have to get them back home eventually–but Luz's mom wouldn't let her go with them. Not in a million years.

And she couldn't forget the others.

Eda. King. Lilith, Raine, Hooty–She had to get back and save them... and everyone else from the Collector back on the Boiling Isles... or what would be left from it. Her eyes welled up just thinking about it.

Buuut it's probably a nope for the required parental permission.

Oh gosh. How would her mom react when she shows up on her doorstep with four witch friends in the middle of the night?

Amity put a hand on Luz's shoulder. It was as if she was reading her girlfriend's mind. "It's ok, she's your mom."

Luz took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, yeah you're right."

She reached her fist up to the door and knocked.

A few moments passed. The faint sound of dishes being put down could be heard through the walls. If this was a tv show, the music would swell as the door swung open, revealing Camilla, eyes comically wide and mouth open in a perfect o.

She was shocked, standing there taking in the five bruised and beaten up teenagers standing on her porch. It took her a whole nother five seconds to register that one of them was her own daughter.

The night went silent, and so Luz filled it in that awkward teenage way anyone does when they've gone missing for months and have suddenly returned. "Hey mom... I'm back."

There was a pause, where Camilla wondered if this was all really happening. Was her daughter really back–or was she just a reflection again, made of untouchable light?

She blinked a few times. "Luz." She still couldn't believe her eyes. There was only one way to test if her daughter was actually here in the physical world.

Camilla reached out and pulled her daughter in for a hug.

And Luz hugged back. She hugged back so tightly that it was a miracle they weren't glued together and were even able to pull apart afterwards.

"Mama, I missed you so much." Luz said. Tears were forming in both their eyes when they finally let go of one another.

"How are you back? I don't–I didn't think you would even want to–"

"It's a long story," Luz wiped at her face, "I can explain it all, I promise."

"Mija, I'm so glad you're safe. I thought I was never going to see you again, I thought that–" Camilla stopped herself short, wiping a tear away. She was now remembering that there were four other kids her daughter arrived with.

One was smaller than the rest. His eyes were red and he was shaking from head to toe. An older boy with blonde hair had an arm around him. He looked eerily familiar but Camilla couldn't place from where.

Her eyes shifted over to a girl with green hair and round glasses. Through motherly instincts, she could tell that the girl was about to burst into tears. However, she was trying extra hard not to, and trying her darndest to look put together.
