Chapter Twelve: Maya

I close my eyes as Andy kisses me, and I let him guide me through this new experience. He kisses down my neck and then pulls open my shirt and continues down. He already has his top off, and I run my hands down his chest, feeling the hard muscle. His lips find my mouth again, and this time his hands pull off my singlet, leaving no more layers between our chests. When we stop to take a breath, I hear something far away, like a cry of pain. Andy pulls me back down with him, and I forget the sound until-

"Get off her, you son of a bitch!" I hear Caleb's voice, and then Andy jumps away from me. I see him flee from the room, and then Caleb is standing there, seething. He takes one look at me, then talks.

"Put your shirt on, Maya." His voice is filled with pain and anger.

"I... why did you...?" I cannot complete my sentence, because I'm shocked at Caleb's entrance, and Andy's response.

"Do it now." I hurriedly do as he has asked, and then he relaxes. He sits next to me on the bed.

"I'm sorry. I don't know if I can control myself right now. Why would you do that? You're not ready, Maya."

"I am too. How would you know?"

"I heard every part of your mind except one screaming at him to stop. One small part was reserved for yelling out my name."

"I... Cal, why? How did you make him leave?"

"He's afraid of me, Maya. He knows what I can do when I'm angry." I take his hand, and though I know it must hurt, he doesn't move. We sit like that for a while, and then Caleb stands.

"I'm going to get something to eat. You coming?"

"Yeah, just let me change first." He nods and stands with his arms crossed.

"Get out!" I say, waving him away. He smirks.

"Just change, Maya. I've seen a lot in my life." I roll my eyes at him and then make a big show of turning around. I take off my thin singlet and put on a black t-shirt, and then I change from my leggings to jeans. I turn around, and Caleb is just staring into space, bored. He sees that I'm done, and then he picks up a set of keys from the table on the way out. When we get all the way up to the car, I almost faint.

"A ferrari?" I almost scream at him.

"Why not? It's mine from a few years ago, when I was here. I got it as an Initiation gift from my parents. You should see our garage back in Australia. It's packed with cars like this." I get into the passenger side of the car, and Caleb shakes his head.

"You need some practice." I move over into the driver's seat, and he gets in next to me. I start the car hesitantly, and then I put the tiniest amount of pressure on the accelerator. The car takes off, and I nearly squeal, but suddenly Caleb is holding the wheel with one hand and steering the car safely onto the road. I take a deep breath, and then I hear the most breathtaking sound in the world. Caleb's laugh is beautiful, almost like the song of a bird. I watch him, and he grins at me.

"I laugh all the time, Maya. You just aren't around anymore to hear it." I look back to the road, feeling chastised. "Come on, I'm just kidding. Relax, for once in your extremely uptight life." He presses a button on the front of the car, and then music starts blaring out of the speakers. I swerve in shock, and once again he catches the wheel. He shakes his head in disapppointment, and then looks outside the car. He begins to enjoy the scenery while I keep my eyes firmly planted on the road. I hear his music creep into my head, and I notice the words. There is only a keyboard, guitar and drums playing the song, with someone singing, yet it is a beautiful song, and the lyrics are amazing. I see that he's staring at me in awe.
