Snicker's Dream

Chapter 7

Lily put us in the pasture and Denver was running from one end of the pasture to the other until he was too tired to run any more, he laid down next to my hooves, and then I laid down next to him. I started to rub my head against him and Cobalt came over and laid down next to me, I rubbed my head against Cobalt. It began getting dark and when I looked over Denver was fast asleep, It was so adorable. The next thing I know I'm falling asleep, not wanting to I was scared what would happen after I fell asleep, I told Cobalt "I can't sleep," he asked me "Why, what's troubling you" I simply told him "I'm scared to go to sleep because I'm scared something's gonna happen to Denver"
"Nothing's gonna happen Im here, I'll protect him." turns out Denver was listening the whole time "Mama, nothin' will happen to me" said Denver "Oh honey, your so sweet."
I said to him "I know" Denver says with a smile as he snuggles closer to me as he drifts off to sleep. And as fast as Denver went, I fell asleep it was getting late, I only sleep for 3 hours, Denver sleeps for 5 and Cobalt sleeps for 4 we all sleep for different amounts of time

One day Jessica came out, she was holding a halter and leadrope and she caught me and tied me to a hitching post, she went into the barn and she came out carrying a saddle pad, I knew this was it my dream was coming true, Cobalt came over to the edge of the fence a winked and whinnied to me, Jessica put the barrel saddle on, I got so excited I jumped up and whinnied back Jessica came running back with the bridle dropped and pet me and told me to calm down, I might have over reacted but whatever.
2 hours later...
Jessica untacked me and left to go grab something, Denver woke up and he couldn't find me he started whinnying, he was scared, Cobalt tried to calm him down and he didn't listen he was running running running he wouldn't stop until I got there so without
Jessica's permission I left the pen and went over to the pasture to calm him down. I needed to get over the fence I backed up (the fence is 4.2 feet high) about 10 big steps and bolted forward jumped the fence right as Jessica walked out the door she stood there in awe, she walked over to me and said "good job girl!" I'm guessing that she honestly didn't realize that I had just gotten out of the pen. Thank the lord! I would have been in big trouble!!!

The next day Jessica came out with a English saddle pad, saddle, and bridle. I'm guessing this was for jumping, great, what have I gotten myself into! She tacked me up and went into the jumping ring, we started with low jumps at a trot we went around about 5 times, which means I jumped 20 times, she raised them up a bit and galloped and jumped them went around the ring about 6 times, which means I jumped 24 times, she raised them up once again to a about 4.6ft and we went round' the course 10 times, jumping 40 times, She squealed "We could enter a competition"

The next day Jessica gave me a break and let me be with Denver and Cobalt and roll around in the pasture if I wanted, I laid there slowly drifting off to sleep, I'm so tired!

That Night...
I heard howling and it sounded real close, OMG I can see a pack of wolves running towards me, this is the end of me, me and colt, wait, wait, wait... wait what about Cobalt and I shall have a chance of fighting back and Denver... well as much as he can, like...uh... kicking them with his back legs! Yeah! He can do that! Our lives aren't over, wait I know what I can do... I back up 15 steps bolt forward and jump the fence once again. When I land I don't stop running, I run up to the house, stop, rear, and whinny really loud! Jessica comes out the door, what are you doing girl, I point to my back for her to get on, "This early, girl," I then nudged her with my muzzle that she needed to get on my back so, she did she got up on my back and I bolted towards the fence she held on tightly to my mane, I cleared the fence making it back into the pasture turning myself to slow down and to show Jessica the wolves. She looked at them for a moment, and then she slid off my back sensing something, something that seemed to make them, well, harmless. She walked over one specific wolf, and put over by me, nothing happened, it just sat down. Well this could be calm wolf right, wrong. Jessica tried about 6-10 others and just sat down and did nothing. "I've read that wolves and other normal predators, would rarely try to attack the Lead Mare or the Lead Stallion... Girl this means you're the Lead Mare!" Trust me I don't wanna go back I stay I will not leave until I become famous. I stomped my foot.

The next day I was afraid Jessica was going to let me go out to the wild, I was scared I would have to leave Denver and Cobalt, I was so scared that when Jessica came to get me I wouldn't let her get near me, I don't wanna leave, I need to be here for my baby! She chased me around the pasture, I don't know why I'm so scared sometimes she just wanted to work with me. She told me that she found a competition in 2 months, unfortunately she would be going on vacation for about a month of that time when we could be practicing, but when we practice we would get straight to the point. She tacked me up and we started at a canter and went over the jumps for a long time, and by a long time I mean 4 hours (how long Denver was sleeping for), She did give me breaks and I think we'll be ready for the competition!
