Passion in Paradise

The special day.

Andrew's phone rings, it's Cate. He is sat round the kitchen island with Rooney and the children. 

"Hello?" Andrew says 

Rooney can hear it's Cate but not what she is saying. 

Why hasn't she rang or texted me. What if this is just not working out anymore, I don't want to leave her... I don't want to leave her family, my family.

"No she can't hear you. Yes that's fine, I will get everything sorted. I'll bring them up about 9." Andrew says with no emotion on his face. 

she can't hear you, well its obviously me. Oh, Andrew is going to take me up there with the children and she's going to end things and have to tell the children too, to explain. I can't do this.

Rooney's drains of any colour, her anxieties taking over every part of her being. 

"Are you ok, love?" Andrew asks concerned.

"Yes, I just feel a little faint. Nothing to worry about." Rooney says trying her hardest to smile. 

"Here you go Rooney" Edith says cutely handing her some of her water. 

Time passes and Rooney grows more restless by the second.

It's 7pm, they will have to leave anytime now. Rooney takes herself to the bathroom and runs her hands under ice cold water, squeezing them tightly, preparing herself for her heart to get shattered. 

"Come on, let's go. We are going to see you mommy." Andrew calls everyone from the front door. 

They all come piling down the hallway and Rooney following into what she feels is the tunnel of darkness she will walk through alone for the rest of her lonely life. In saying that, she had got dressed up, done her hair and makeup to try and be brave and look her best for her love. 

Andrew pulls up to the Oceans 8 set, they get out the car. 

Cate is no where to be seen... Sandra approaches them all giving them a hug. 

"Hi Rooney, so nice to meet you. I've heard all good things." she pulls in Rooney closer. "I am so glad you are making Cate happy and that you are together." 

"T-T-Thankyou." Rooney blushes feeling starstruck just like she did with Cate during Carol. 

"We have to go now..." Sandra smiles at Andrew, holding Rooney by the hand guiding her down a path that leads to a forrest like area.

Rooney follows Sandra hoping she is going to take her to Cate but also nervous still despite what Sandra had said that Cate is going to break things off. 

Until...

She looks at the path ahead and it is lit with fireflies all around, with stones laid out perfectly making a path. With wild flowers and grass caressing her feet. She smiles and laughs, as does Sandy as they look at the ground and up at the sky. 

Rooney's gaze falls from the night sky lit up by the bright moon, the sparkling stars and the buzzing fireflies, to the person she feels safest around. 

Rooneys heart beams with glee, just at the sight of Cate's beautiful eyes staring into hers. 

Cate takes her hand from Sandy's, Sandy kisses them both on the cheeks looking a little bit jealous. 

Cate guides Rooney to a bench over looking a mountain of trees, with the stars and the moon right in front of them, almost painted like a Van Gogh. They sit down.

Cate takes a deep breath. Rooney still feeling anxious begins to pick at her fingers. Cate notices and takes both of Rooneys hands in hers, looking deeply into her eyes. 

"Rooney... I love you. I have loved you from the first day on the set of Carol. We have a spark different to any other, no words could explain the joy you have brought to me and my family. You are extraordinary, I wish I could show you how I see you through my eyes." Cate's says so smoothly, with no hesitation. "Rooney Patricia Mara, please would you be with me, as my girlfriend, as my partner in life. You are already part of our family. There is nothing I want more than to make your beautiful heart happy for the rest of our lives." 

Rooney launches over to Cate hugging her,  both of them smiling from ear to ear. 

"Yes... of course. " Rooney says looking at Cate, both of them with tears filling their eyes. 

Rooney holds Cate's face so grateful to have this gorgeous woman to want to be with her, and Cate feeling the same. They kiss under the moonlight so passionately, with the stars sparkling just as much as their hearts. 

Andrew, the children and Sandy cheer. All extremely happy for the couple. Edith runs over jumping on Rooney and Cate, with a massive smile on her little face. 

"So now I have two mommys?" She looks at Cate curiously.

"Edith !" Dash says to her embarrassed. 

"What... I want Rooney to be my mommy as well!" 

Cate looks at Rooney not sure what to say.

"Well, Edith thats up Rooney." Cate says stroking Ediths hair, with Andrew nodding in agreement. 

Edith looks at Rooney, pleading with her eyes. 

"Of course, we are all a family now. You can call me whatever you want, you don't have to call me mommy" Rooney says to try and reassure the boys. "I will always be here, for all of you. For anything." Rooney looks at all of the children smiling with her kind eyes.
