Chapter 2

I wake up at seven to get myself and Ava ready for school . Hopefully Eddie doesn't mind giving her a lift too . I forgot to mention it to him. He better drive carefully with her in the van . I decide on wearing one of my black denim shorts and a band tee with my leather jacket . I leave my hair down in it's natural curls again .I get my stuff ready in my bag and pack Ava her lunch .

When I go back to my room I see Robert annoying Ava . My mother nowhere in sight to stop her boyfriend. He's probably high off his head already . Good thing we are leaving soon or I'll start shit and it's too early for that . He leaves and goes off somewhere else in the trailer .

I hear what I'm guessing is Eddie knocking at the door. "Ava come on grab your stuff we're leaving now". "Okay!" she says excitedly wanting to go to school. Before I can answer the door my mothers asshole of a boyfriend opens the door. I hope he hasn't said much but when I get over I hear him questioning the boy. "Why are you at my door" Eddie replies saying "I'm here to pick up Harper" "why would Harper be going anywhere with you" I turn to him and he says to me "going out to boys already yeah" Eddie just looks confused. "He's a friend, come on Ava"

"I'm sorry about him." "I hope you don't mind dropping Ava off too." He smiles glancing at the smaller girl beside me." "That's no problem" I smile at looking at them. " you better drive save Munson."

We get to Ava's school and I walk her over telling Eddie I would meet him later . He refuses this and decides to walk with me. "Have fun Ava I'll pick you up later okay?" She nods to me as I leave her to go to school.

We get to the school and I feel as if everyone is staring at me . I'm probably just being paranoid being new to the school and all. We are told to go to the gym. Which doesn't help my nerves as it seems everyone is here. Eddie senses my anxiousness and pats my shoulder reassuringly. I try to hide my smile.

There is cheerleaders doing their thing dancing and what not. After this boy comes on talking to the crowd "first off hey , first off I would like to thank each and everyone of you , without your support we wouldn't be here give yourselves a big hand." The crows cheers. "And of course, of course I have to give a special shout-out to the best and the prettiest fans of all time the tiger cheer squad." " Chrissy , Chrissy I love you babe." To which a pretty girl in a cheerleading outfit responds by blowing him a kiss. Alright I mean a bit cringe but cute. He then continues to talk. "I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's been a tough year for Hawkins." "So much loss sometimes I wonder how much loss can one community take." "In dark days like this we need something to believe in." "so last night when we were down by ten points at half to Christian Academy." "I look at my team, and I said think of Jack , think of Melissa , think of Heather, think of Billy , think about our heroic police chief Jim Hopper." 

I look over at Eddie looking unhappy at what the boy speaking is saying . I mean I am too even though I just moved here. Nancy and Mike have told me about all the loss Hawkins has gone through. I don't think a stupid basketball game is something to bring innocent life's of people who died into it.

The boy who I am a bit iffy on deciding if I like him as a person continues speaking . "Think about every one of our friends who perished in that fire." "What did they die for." Okay now he is taking this a bit for I mean it is only a basketball game I've decided I definitely don't like this boy. "For us to lose to some crap school." "No." The crowd repeats his words back to him. "For us to return home heads hung low in defeat?" "No." The crowd again shouts back "no!" "Let's win this game." "Let's win this game for them." "And that's exactly what we did!" They all cheer again.
