Chapter 2

"I believe you (y/n). But since you're staying here you'll need a place to stay. I tracked down your old residence. Your clan has died off so the house is empty."

"Thank you ma'am."

Your old home. You couldn't believe it. All those old memories (none of them being happy ones) came rushing back to you as you opened the front door. You step into your old room, it was hideous, just as you left it. Your room was hidden from all the other rooms in the compound. Your family was embarrassed of you and tried to hide you from society. You never really were one to socialize anyways but the dark became quite lonely. You didn't want to stay in any other room in fear of memories coming back of your family members.

You cleaned up the house all night. You didn't get any sleep. They next day you hear a knock at your front door just as you finish cleaning.

"Come in!"

You put away your cleaning supplies as you walked to where the front door is. There you saw your teammates.

"H-hi guys," you said, a little surprised at their presence.

"Hi (y/n), you were running late so we decided to stop by. I didn't know you were part of the (l/n) clan," said Tenten.

"Y-yeah," you laughed nervously as you put your hand to your neck.

"Guys, we have to get going," Neji said bluntly.

As you were walking to your meet up spot, you could feel Neji glaring at you. There was something about you he didn't like. You rolled your eyes but knew you had to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't find out about your mission.

"There you are."

Gai-sensei held out his arms as we all approached.

"(Y/n), I'll help you individually today. The rest of you, I have given you your training assignments for the day."

"Good luck (y/n)," Tenten smiled.

"You'll be great," said Lee.

Neji rolled his eyes as the three of them walked off.

"Well (y/n), what would you like to work on first?"

"Attacking strategies."

"Ok."

He walked you through different moves and had you practice them. By the end he had you spar against him for practice. You held back against him so he wouldn't get suspicious though you didn't hold back while training. After the sparring match Gai congratulated you on your effort. You headed home before your teammates could socialize with you.

When you got home you went to the large courtyard in the center of the house. The old training dummies were still up so you decided to practice there. After a few hours of training you heard a knock at your door.

"Coming!"

You weren't very happy someone had interrupted you. You opened the door and no one was there. You saw a note. It read Status report - Itachi. A huge grin appeared on your face. Finally, you get to see Itachi again. You dodged the guards at the front gate. They couldn't sense your presence so you easily jumped the wall undetected. You jumped from tree to tree until you found Itachi.

"Itachi," you whisper-yelled.

You tackled him for a hug.

"Miss me?"

"More than anything!"

"How's the mission going," he asked as he brushed himself off.

"It's terrible, being fake is a lot of work," you sighed.

"Well, I'm sure you're doing great."

He placed his hand on your shoulder.

"You're strong (y/n), I know you can do this."

You nodded.

After a few more details you told him about Neji.

"Just make sure to keep an eye on him, make sure he doesn't try to follow you anywhere."

You nodded.

You headed back to the village and did some more training before going to bed. The next day Neji continued to glare at you. He seemed determined to find out what you were hiding.

"Something wrong Neji," you asked him.

Without a word he walked off. He was definitely suspicious of you. You turned your attention to Gai.

"Today we have a mission. We'll be escorting a nobleman to their village."

Boring. You wanted some action, but it was better than nothing.

"Gai-sensei, how long will this mission be?"

"Considering the village isn't too far away, I'd say not that long. Why? Did you have plans?"

"No, just wondering," you smiled.

While escorting the nobleman, you got a chance to conversate with your teammates. You got to know them better. Good information to have in case your cover was blown. Tenten was by far your favorite. She was sweet and kind to you. Lee was loud but adorable. And Neji. Neji was... Neji. He was always watching you. It started to creep you out. He might be suspicious but it was still creepy. Tenten was constantly telling him to stop and he would quickly turn his head. He wasn't embarrassed he was just annoyed the others couldn't see it. As you were walking you heard a rustling in the trees. A kunai came out of the trees you grabbed the nobleman and moved him away. Your reflexes were always sharp. Your teammates looked surprised. You always looked like you couldn't handle yourself.

"What," you looked at them, then you released. Oh.

"How'd you do that?!"

"That was amazing (y/n)!"

Neji rolled his eyes. You sensed that the attacker was still here. Neji activated his keike genkai. He saw at least three other attackers along with the one who threw the kunai.

"What do you see Neji," you asked.

"There's at least four of them," he glared.

Jeez, you were just asking.

"(Y/n), take the nobleman. We'll take care of these guys," ordered Gai-sensei.

You nodded. You motioned for the nobleman to hop on your back. He got on and you rushed off into the trees. One of the attackers flanked off after you. Your team was too occupied with the others to notice. You felt their presence and quickly found a safe place to hide. You knew how to use your keike genkai to hide someone from sight. You hid the nobleman and rushed off to find the attacker. You didn't want to ambush them. You loved facing your opponents head on. He came out of nowhere from above but you were able to quickly dodge. You had strong control over your Chakra so you counterattacked with a Chakra powered blow to the face sending him flying into the next tree.

"Heh.. you're pretty good kid," he said, wiping his bloody nose.

"You're not so bad yourself," you said with a cheeky grin.

He threw himself at you, fist held outwards. You moved to the side as you quickly grabbed his arm and threw him over to the side. He was out cold.

"Damn, I was hoping for some excitement.."

Your teammates had caught up to you as their jaws dropped. You were able to beat someone in a one on one. They thought you were weak. You smiled nervously. Shit. You needed them to think you were weak but there not being a scratch on you proved otherwise. You led your teammates to where had hid the nobleman and the rest of the mission nothing happened.
