(Y/n) P.O.VAs U.A. comes into view, so does my brother. When he sees me, he smiles and waves. Once I get close enough, Ei pulls me into a hug, "Good morning, bro."
"Morning, Eijiro."
He lets go of me and digs in his bag, "Oh yeah. I told Mom about you and how you don't have a phone." He pulls a phone from his bag, holding it out to me, "Mom bought you one and added it to our phone plan, so you and Dad don't have to worry about paying. And I hope you don't mind, but I already added mine, Mom's, and Chiyo's phone numbers. Chiyo said you don't have to use her number though she was pretty excited about the idea of getting to know her other future stepson."
We make our way to class, "Is Chiyo around often?"
"Oh, did I forget to mention? Chiyo moved in a couple of months back."
As we enter the classroom, Ashido says, "Hey, Kirishima... Kirishimas? I've never been friends with twins before."
I smile, "(Y/n) is fine for me."
My brother and I sit down; Ashido takes her seat next to me and starts a conversation.
Eijiro P.O.V
I watch my brother and Ashido talk. I'm happy to have my little brother back in my life, but he's different. I remember that before the divorce, Dad was against (Y/n) being trans and Dad was never the nicest. Mom and I have been so worried about him.
I'm pulled from my thoughts by a tap on the shoulder. I turn to see a blonde boy with a black lightning bolt in his hair, "Hey, uh..."
"Kirishima Eijiro." I introduce myself.
"Kaminari Denki. So if you don't mind me asking, who's the hottie you walked in with?"
I look at my brother and then back at Kaminari; I point over my shoulder, "Are you talking about my twin brother?"
The black-haired boy next to him snickers, Kaminari glares at him before turning back to me, "Would you still introduce me to him? And don't mind, my friend."
I shrug and tap (Y/n) on the shoulder, "Hey, bro, this is Kaminari Denki. He wanted me to introduce you two." I turn back to Kaminari, "Kaminari, this is my younger twin brother (Y/n)."
(Y/n) waves, "Hey, Kaminari."
Kaminari clears his throat and smirks, "I think there's something wrong with my phone. Your number's not in it."
The black-haired boy next to Kaminari burst into laughter, "Dude, did you look that up online? That's so fucking lame and cheesy."
Kaminari slaps the boy next to him, "Shut up, Sero. Like you could have done better."
Sero calms his laughter, "Yeah, I think I could."
I look to (Y/n) to see he looks extremely uncomfortable, "(Y/n)? Hey, are you okay?"
I hear Kaminari behind me, "Oh shit, look, man, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I didn't even think that you might not like men."
(Y/n) shakes his head, "It's not that I don't like men; I don't like anyone that way. I'm sorry."
"No, no. Don't apologize; it's my fault, but could I still have your number to be friends?"
(Y/n) nods and hands his phone to Kaminari. Sero says, "Would you mind sharing your number with me too? To be friends, of course."
(Y/n) nods again, and his phone gets passed to the next boy. Ashido whines, "What? What about your best gal pal? We've been friends since yesterday."
(Y/n) smiles, "You can have my number too, Ashido."
"Yay!"
I smile as I watch my brother open up and gain three friends. I hope I see this shell of my brother become the (Y/n) I knew as a child.
Sero, Kaminari, and Ashido try to get to know (Y/n) better throughout the day, but he's more evasive with their questions than he is with me. It worries me that it feels like he's lying and avoiding certain subjects, specifically life after we were split up after our parents' divorce.
It makes my stomach twist to think Dad might be neglecting or, worse, abusing him. God, the thought of Dad hitting him or even raising a hand to him makes me feel sick and horrible for not being able to protect my little brother.
I want to know the truth and protect him, but I can't come out and ask if Dad is abusive. It might cause him to become even more closed off and pull away from me. If that happens, I'll never be able to help him.

As I close the door behind me, I call out, "I'm home."
Chiyo calls back from the kitchen, "Welcome home, Eijiro. Dinner is almost done. Could you grab your mom from her office?"
I drop my bag and head upstairs. I knock on the door before entering my mom's office, "Hey, mom. Chiyo says dinner is almost ready."
Mom turns in her chair to face me, saying, "Hey, sweetie, how was school?"
I shrug, "We made some new friends."
She stands up, smiling, "That's great! Did you give (Y/n) the phone?"
I nod as we walk down to the dining room, "Yeah, he has it."
Mom stops and looks at me, "You sound upset. Did (Y/n) say something?"
I shake my head, "No, but that's the problem. It feels like he's isolating himself. Mom, could you please try to fight for custody of him again?"
"Honey, you know I've been trying for years, but nobody knows where your father is. It's hard to summon someone to court if my lawyer can't even send them the papers and the police can't find him. If you can get the address, then I can. Chiyo and I both texted (Y/n) during your lunch break, but the messages didn't go through. I'm really worried about your brother, but don't push him or yourself, Okay?"
"But..."
Mom puts a hand on my shoulder, "Eijiro, it's not your responsibility to fix adult problems. I know you want to help, but please don't stress over it; let me and Chiyo do that, okay?"
I nod, "Okay, I'll try."

Toxic
Teaser for chapter one:I tap my fingers on the steering wheel. I check watch: 18:46. I've been sitting here for ten minutes, heart pounding in my chest. His words are still loud in my head "Don't forget I'm being generous, so don't piss me off. Get home before I do, or you'll be sorry." Maybe I should go back home.
My chest gets heavy, and guilt racks my brain at the thought of not seeing him after so many years. I miss him and the rest of my friends so much. I won't have this chance again. I take a deep breath and leave the car; a chill runs down my back as I step out into the cold winter air.
