"Carina! Carina! You need to stop!"
The young girl whimpered as she tossed and turned. Her sheets were tangled around her legs as she struggled in her sleep. The room was filled with smoke and Remus had to cover his nose with his arm in attempts not to breathe it in.
"Wake up! Sweetheart, you need to wake up!"
The girl shot up awake. The room had settled and it was quiet except for her labored breathing. Her blue eyes were glazed over with tears as she stared wide eyed at Remus, who only sighed with relief.
"I'm sorry. I had a nightmare"
. . . . . . . .
"She can't control it Albus! How do you expect a seven year old to even begin to understand what she can do? There must be something that can be done!"
"Are you suggesting a cure? Lupin, what she has is a gift and one that cannot be taken away"
"I'm not asking for it to be taken away. But for Merlin's sake she's just a child! She can barely even go out and play with other kids her age without some kind of accident happening!"
The little girl only watched as the group of adults talked near the window. She really didn't understand what was happening. But what she did know is that this was something serious.
"I might have a solution. It's temporary, but it will stop her from having random outbursts like tonight. Give her these, once a day. They will make her tired but it will calm her nonetheless"
Remus sighed and nodded thankfully at him. He gave the little girl a quick glance and his heart became heavy.
"She's too young and doesn't understand what's happening to her. Her mother is gone and how am I supposed to tell her all this. Can we just, for now..."
"Yes. I understand. But the time will come when you will have to tell her, Remus"
"Later rather than sooner"
"Very well. When she turns eleven, I will make sure she is carefully looked after. You have my word that she would be safe here behind these walls" Albus said walking over to the fire haired girl.
"Thank you"
Albus sat on a chair in front of where the girl was sitting. She didn't smile, just merely stared at him. He could sense something within her but nonetheless gave her a gentle and warm smile.
"Now, Carina. I want you to focus on my face. Relax and take a deep breath. This won't hurt one bit. I promise"
"Okay"
Albus pointed his wand at her and she didn't even flinch.
"Obliviate"
