That's not supposed to happen

Today was the first official day of classes. Lucy, Enzo and I were currently eating breakfast in the Great Hall. Correction, Enzo and Lu were eating breakfast, I was just staring down at my plate with wide eyes and my fingers digging into my scalp. Enzo was going on about how Professor Trelawney freaks him out and I was half listening to him while half going over the thoughts in my mind.

"Well she freaks everyone out, Enzo. Be grateful she hasn't said a prophecy about you, unlike Potter. Poor guy can't even go to class without Trelawney stuffing a prophecy down his throat"

"Kinky" Enzo mused.

Lucy smacked him over the head messing up his fluffy hair he spent hours fixing.

"Car, you've been uncharacteristically quiet this morning" Enzo said shaking me left to right.

"What's wrong with you?" Lucy asked me worriedly.

"Is it possible to have a midlife crisis earlier in life?" I asked them.

Enzo and Lucy share a look. Great, they think I'm going crazy. About time though...

"Would you care to explain?" Lucy asked.

I shake my head. There was no way I was going to say what was on my mind. Not a fat chance. It was probably nothing anyways, I'm sure it will all be forgotten. I dig into my breakfast and start a random conversation about Nargles. I don't know what they were but I heard Luna Lovegood talking about them earlier.

My eyes wandered over to the Head table. Professor Dumbledore and McGonagall were having a nice chat. My eyes went over to the next person and my heart skipped a beat. Oh no. Professor Snape was seemingly listening to whatever Professor Trelawney was talking about. He seemed interested but I could see it in his eyes that he was beyond annoyed. Grumpy as usual. I took this time to study him and noticed things that I haven't before.

For most, Professor Snape looked like a hard shell of a man. Stubborn, mean, brooding, heck I thought he was the worst Professor in all of Hogwarts. But apparently my mind changed and I could see more than what people saw in him. Perhaps because he'd come around twice a week to 12 Grimmauld place for the Order meetings and we'd have small talk or maybe because my twelve year old crush lingered. Whatever the case, I can't deny it to myself any longer at the fact that I actually found my Potions Professor to be quite the handsome man.

I didn't realize I have been staring for so long. A second after I had that thought, Snape's head turned slightly and his dark eyes met my blue ones. He quirked an eyebrow at me, almost as if he heard what I was thinking. No. No way. That would be impossible. Looking away from him quickly, I turn my attention to my breakfast finally finding it much more interesting.
