I sat on the steps of Rick's house in Alexandria. The sun beamed down on my face. I watched everyone work on separate projects. Everyone was actually smiling. Look at how far I've come. But look at all that we went through...I went through.
I watched Michonne walk up and sit down next to me.
"Hey. Are you alright?" She asked.
"Yeah...I'm just thinking." I said as I kept looking around. "It's all hitting me at once. I wish she was here."
Michonne just stared at me. "You know you haven't told anyone much about her."
I took a deep breath and exhaled. "I guess we have some time to kill..."

2012...That's the year everything changed.
They warned us, the government. They warned us that this would be the year that everything would come to a halt. No one believed them, hell, I didn't believe them either...
It was a hot day in July. The Georgia heat simmered from the pavement on the highway. The wind went through my long brown hair. The sound of my Harley Davison rung through my ears. I looked into the distance, I saw a person walking. But they were leaning to one side. As I got closer to the person, I noticed that half of their face was rotted away. I drove past the person quickly and they just kept walking. For a while, I didn't see anyone else. I was just on my way back home. Then, more people started to appear...and all hell broke loose. Those things...What did they call those things on the news?...Walkers. I looked in the distance and they started to appear by the thousands. Those things are the most God-awful things you would ever see. You couldn't even tell that they once were human. The government created them to control the population, at least that's what I believe.
I ran over at least twenty of them but they continued to come and cover the road. All of them made a horrible gargling sound that I could hear even with my loud motorcycle. Their flesh began to decay from their bodies...and the smell. Their smell field my nose, I tried to ignore it but it that smell was way to pungent to possibly ignore. I looked over on the other side of the street and I watched one Walker attack this young woman and devoured her body, piece by piece. I was disturbed but my face didn't show it. I continued to ride to get away from them. Soon, I started to hear screams of men, women and children. I had to get out of here...somehow.
As I watched the Walkers quickly take over the population of Atlanta, I noticed a woman...She looked young, she could be at least twenty three. She had milk chocolate brown skin and long curly black hair. Her white dress flowed as she ran away from a Walker. She had something in her hands but I couldn't make it out. She wasn't screaming...She was just calm. I wanted to see what would happen to her but at one point, she took a right turn into some bushes on the side of the road. Who was she? She was the only one I've seen that was actually calm and not panicking. As I started to think about the woman, my motorcycle started to slow down slowly...Damn. What a time to be out of gas. I quickly put my hand on the break and I ran towards the woods.
I reached for my pocket knife , since that was the only weapon against the Walkers. I could hear a Walker growling and trailing behind me. I knew I couldn't get rid of it. So I turned around and ran towards it. The Walker reached its hands out and I reached for my knife and stabbed it directly into it's skull. Blood quickly gushed and poured down it's face and covered its eyes. It dropped to the ground. I looked at it for a second. It looked just like a human by its facial features...It dressed like a human...But it's decaying...I heard more of them growl in the distance. I guess I will have to bash their skulls too if they get too close.
Is this my future? Killing Walkers? I won't be able to fight all of them with just a pocket knife. I have to kill them with something bigger and stronger.
The sun started to set as I reached an abandoned barn. My dark green shirt and my black pants were covered in Walker blood and pieces of skull. My eyes narrowed as I saw a crossbow laying in a pile of dirt. I ran to it and quickly grabbed it. I looked around and I saw five arrows scattered across the dirt. I used a crossbow last week to hunt. But now it's main purpose is to kill Walkers. Funny how things change in a week. I walked out of the barn, crossbow in hand and aimed towards the woods.
Then, a Walker appeared. I aimed my crossbow at it and took deep breath. I released the bow and it went right through its skull. Bullseye. I walked up to it and pressed my boot against its head and pulled the arrow out. I smirked, I always knew I was a good hunter. I looked around quickly to see if I could hear anymore growling. I turned towards the barn. I'm miles away from my house, I sighed as I examined the barn. I guess I could stay there for the night. I walked back into the barn and I sat my crossbow on the ground. I sat down next to it.
The woman with the white dress entered my mind. I wonder if she's alive...and what was in her hands? Did she lose whatever she had in her hands? I started to flashback to seeing her running into the bushes. But my flashbacks were quickly interrupted when I heard footsteps. As they reached closer, I reached for the crossbow and aimed it towards the door. A woman entered, she looked around. I examined her, it was the woman from earlier. She turned towards me, her face was innocent. Her dark brown eyes were filled with fear. I aimed my crossbow at her face.
"AHHHHHHHH!!!!!" She screamed. "Don't kill me!!"
