CW// Loss/Grieving

Koy seemed confused. She was meant to be here for candles, to burn plants like any other day. The rain was pouring still upon her warm skin, she didn't mind. It burned but she tried to ignore it as she flew over to the spot she always visited when she was here."Hello Wallie." She spoke once she had landed. Before her was the skeleton of a whale creature, some long forgotten such as this poor soul here. He was dead. Far from it. No flesh to be found here.
"I hope you're alright, it has been awhile since I've visited." They rubbed the skeleton's skull, dark hand touching the smooth rain soaked snout of the deceased beast. "Perhaps too long."
It didn't speak, obviously. Koy looked at the long spinal pieces of Wallie, her mask staying the same ordinary expression but something in her chest ached. He was filthy, disgusting plants coated his bones, ribs and spine alike. She rose. Winged trench coat like cape flapping as she floated over to the plants, pulling out a candle and beginning her work.
It took a few moments before she could clean all of his bones but once she finished the bones rattled, almost letting out a cry. Of joy. She hoped, floating back to the front of its skull. "I hope that felt better, my boy."
Koy knew there were bright tears exiting the wide eyes of her tiger like mask, she could feel the heat exiting her eyes underneath. She heaved over onto her knees, head falling onto the ground as she knelt.
"Forgive me." She weeped. "Please."The rain continued to pour down on the two. Everything fell quiet apart from the rain and the sky child's weeps. She'd wished she had been there for Wallie, when he needed her. But she wasn't, nor was she strong enough to stop what happened.
Plague. Her mind honked gently as she sobbed into the soil. I wish it had left him alone, let him live on. She grabbed at his skull gently, chest heaving in and out.
"I miss you," she sniffled out "I'll find a way to get you back."After a moment, she slowly stood, backing away and standing underneath the awning of a decrepit building. She stood by the tall lantern, her body warming up from the rain that inflicted her wings and body, the staff on her back rattling gently as she shivered. The warmth felt better. Koy stared at the skeleton, it was still, making small noises as raindrops fell upon it.
"Goodbye. For now, my son." She backed away and turned, taking off for the grand elder gate. She couldn't stand being here any longer, feeling alone.
Alone. She wasn't alone, really, she had friends but..to her, in this cloudy moment, it felt like it.
