The young boy twins stood close to one another, staring at their mother as he set up the new game their Dedushka had bought them.

The twins were identical in every way, height, voice, weight, same clothes, and even eye color.

They had heterochromia, but both of their eyes were blue, just in different shades. Though, their white eyelashes took most of the attention, giving them a snowy look that fit them all too well.

This was Big Diomede and Little Diomede, the Diomede twins, children of Russia and America Moscow.

They had a very similar flag to their father Russia, but with the color pallet of their mother America. Though, their mother mainly took on the form of a female named Alaska, using his shapeshifting ability to do so.

As if accordingly, they had Alaska's pattern of stars in the big stripe of blue they had on their faces.

They both wore ushanka's on their heads, as was tradition from their fathers side. They were black with lots of pockets, had white under fluff in it, and was decorated on the front by a yellow star surrounded by a green pine tree along with a white star on both sides of it.

Of course, given their age, the ushanka's were currently too big for them.

Between the twins stood a girl, the best friend of both twins. They had grown up with her, given her parents were good friends of their father.

This was Korpan Seoul, the daughter of Japan and South Korea Seoul.

She had a flag just like her father, except without the black markings around the red and blue Yin Yang like symbol. And like her mother, she had the cat ears and tail, and even the little slit cat eyes.

Once the twins mother was done setting up the game, he carefully moved and set it on the floor, where all 3 children could sit down around it and have access to it.

The game consisted of a checkered board with a handful of pieces on two sides, but with a noticeable gap of space between both teams.

One side had pieces clouded with a dark smoky color, but they otherwise would have been clear. While the other team was pure and shiny as their opposing team could have been, given their glass construction.

While Korpan was much more interested in picking up and examining the pieces, the twins found it more useful to ask their mother the questions they knew he had answers to.

"What's this game called?" Big asked.

"It's called chess" America answered, sitting down on the floor, on the side of the chess boards light team. "It's a game of knowledge and strategy" he explained.

"Strategy?" Little questioned, tilting his head as his mother often did.

"Yes, I find it quite fun" their mother said. He reached down and picked up 2 pieces from the light team.

He held them out for all 3 children to see, even waiting a bit for Korpan's attention to properly turn to him.

"This is the King piece" he told them, pointing at it. "And this is the Queen" he added, pointing at the other.

"Now the King is the most important piece" he explained. "If your King gets taken then the game will be over and you'll have lost" he said.

"However" he added. "That doesn't mean it's the strongest piece" he told them.

He used his free hand to pick up the Queen piece and hold it up.

"Now the Queen is the strongest piece in the game" he said. "She can go wherever she wants" he explained.
