Above it how I imagined what Y/n's tattoos look like :D
~~~
"Nightmare? When do you think we'll get our tattoos?"
"I dunno Dream. If they were both monsters we would have them by now. I guess they're both human."
The two stared at their arms, letting out a sigh. Both turned 18 recently, and were quite sad.
Their human wasn't even born yet, or maybe they weren't 18?
...
Nightmare had eaten the apples, glaring at the dead village. His tattoo still hadn't shown up. Neither did Dream's, as the positive guardian had been frozen to stone. It was frustrating.
Eventually Nightmare gave up on waiting for his tattoo, deciding to move on.
...Perhaps ruling the multiverse would be fun.
Meanwhile, hundreds of years had passed. Nightmare and Dream fought a war against negative emotions and positive emotions. Both were on a team of either killers or protectors. None would admit to it, but these were tiring battles.
It only upset the twins more seeing that everyone around them had tattoos.
Except them.
Hell, by bringing everyone together they found their soulmates!
It was like the whole world was against them, and as if they were never supposed to have soulmates.
18 years ago, a girl named Y/n was born.
A beautiful, delicate girl with a low pain tolerance. Fragile, but short tempered. Graceful, sometimes people compare her to a butterfly, even.
H/c hair, e/c eyes, and always seemed to wear an unzipped jacket and blue scarf.
Y/n was excitedly looking at her right arm, which was where the tattoo would normally appear. Although, one the rare occasion, it would be on the left arm.
"Its gonna show up soon!" Her co-workers, Jacob and Melissa exclaimed.
The two were soulmates, and were happy Y/n was finally going to get her tattoo.
"Close your eyes for when it happens! We'll describe it! Maybe it's someone you already know!" Melissa added.
And then, tattoos started to crawl up her arms.
Melissa and Jacob stared at her arms. "Its a purple tattoo with a moon and butterfly." Melissa stated. "No! It's a golden sun with a butterfly in the center!" Jacob argued.
...
You opened your eyes while they bickered, and glanced at both arms.
Your right arm had a deep purple tattoo, shaped like Melissa's explanation. Meanwhile, your left arm had a golden tattoo-like Jacob said.
Shock filled the room, everyone around stared at your arms.
Two... there were two tattoos. There's never been anyone with two soulmate tattoos. But this was undeniable, as you'd never had any other tattoo. The butterfly must represent you, but then who were the sun and moon?
This would be a pain.
~
Dream shot arrows at Nightmare, while Nightmare continuously tried to stab Dream. Both dodged the attacks.
Their clothes were torn, arms exposed. They'd both grown tired. The twins were angry, glaring at each other.
And finally, they dashed at each other letting out war cries.
Both attacks missed when a tattoo faded up onto their arms.
The duo stood in shock, staring at their arms.
Dream had a sun on his, a butterfly inside.
Nightmare had a moon, a butterfly beside it.
The sun and moon represented them of course. But... the butterfly was their soulmate.
Then... why did they both have the exact same butterfly tattoo. The twins walked up to each other, comparing the butterflies. No doubt about it, they were the same butterfly.
So... they had the same soulmate.
Dream quickly pushed Nightmare teleported away. Nightmare grumbled under his breath, before he too, teleported away.
It was only a matter of time before one of the two tracked you down.
