Good Listener

Chapter 2

As I was saying, I saw Mike come out of the stall. I realized I was in the boys bathroom. He giggles and says, "Hey cara! Wait, what are you doing in the boys bathroom?" he giggles again. I fake smile hoping he didn't see me crying "oh my bad, i didn't see sorry i was just really busy!" I say holding back my tears. He tilts his head then he wipes my tears from my face. He asked, "Cara come on I've known you for 16 years I know when you're crying. Just tell me." I stared at him for 5 seconds but it felt like 5 hours. I just want the ground to swallow me up. But I do the worst thing possible, I start CRYING! He sees that I'm balling my eyes and hugs me. I always felt so safe in Mike's arms. I never thought of him more than a friend but mika used to tease me saying mike and i liked each other. After what felt like 10 minutes he pulled me away from him and gave me a look. I know that he wants me to explain. So I tell him everything about Mika and hona."I'm so sorry cara! I can talk to mika if you'd like?" he says in a calming voice. "NO" i scream "I don't want mika to think i'm some cry baby who can't defend herself." I say while still crying. He tells me he wont tell her but he would be there for me if i needed anything. I smile while leaving "thanks' i say hugs him again. I walk away, and sigh in relief "I'm so glad to have mike" I think to myself. While walking I see hona, just hona. She gives me a bad look and says something I will always remember. "I stole your best friend cara! Cry about it. Mika was so gullible to think I really liked her!" she laughs on repeat. "I just stole her to get back from you two!" she laughs more. I storm away wiping my tears and FINALLY going back to class. In class I see Mika looking so scared? I built enough courage to walk over to her. I try to take a seat next to her, while this is happening I hear Honas friends giggling behind us? Anyways i tried to sit next to her but she PUSHED me before i could even sit down! I was beyond mad at this point. The bell rings and I run out of the school faster than anyone. I didn't even get on the bus today. I didn't want to see mika and honas together again. I decided to try and walk home, looking back it was the worst idea ever! I got lost, and it took me 3 hours to get home! When I finally got home I saw my foster parents and Mike inside the house looking worried. Mike sees me and runs up to me, hugging me in a tight hug. I say "m-mike let me go" while laughing. He apologizes while laughing. My foster parents dont look so worried any more they look happy? I asked Mike why he was here. He says, "well cara you didn't come home in time, and your parents called mika but she just hung up once she knew it was about you. Then she came to my room saying to go over to your house without any thoughts. Then your parents told me you were missing for 3 hours. "Oh, I'm so sorry if I got you all scared!" I replied. Mike kissed my forehead then left the house. My foster parents hugged me for the first time in 15 years. I smiled half happy i walked home, i started walking up to my room when i heard my phone ring *DING* i heard *DING* I heard it again. I saw that Mike was calling me! I ran faster to my room and answered. We started talking, hours flew by and it was already 1 AM. I tell him I'm gonna go to bed, knowing well I'm not going to bed for another 4 hours. He said bye and I hung up! I lay on my bed flattered and all happy! I couldn't wait for tomorrow! I woke up with still only 2 hours of sleep but this time i didn't bring my headphones because me and mike were gonna walk to school together. But since mike, me, and mika all went together she had to tag along i didn't care that much i would just ignore her! I see mike and mika waiting outside for me although mika just had headphones in and was probably listening to music , because she had them the whole time walking to school. We got to school and I said goodbye to Mike because he was in all different classes then me and mika. So now it was just me and Mika walking together. "So, how have you been?" i say trying to start a conversation. She looked at me, I could tell she was just about to reply before Hona came running up to us and practically jumped on to Mika and started hugging and kissing her cheek. "Ew" I thought to myself. I start to walk away but that's when I heard hona say, "yeah walk away cara that's all you're good at!" She gives me a smirk then drags Mika away to class. I really didn't care about this.
