YOU BIT THE SIDE OF YOUR CHEEK, staring in contemplation at the papers strewn before you.

Two years. Two years since you met Kusuo Saiki and discovered your strange connection to him. Since then, you've been trying to find out what it was exactly, and why you had it.

Theories, tests, research yielded some results, bringing you a step closer to the truth. But that was it. Just a step closer.

You had figured out what you could do with his help, what he could achieve with yours. But that was it. Just your limitations, nothing else.

Sighing, you leaned back and stacked the papers into neat piles.

You and Saiki were now in your third year at school. Whether you liked it or not, your time with him was running out. Someday, you would have to part ways.

You closed your eyes.

What would you do when that day came?

During times like this, it was easy to feel frustrated when things weren't going your way. You, however, didn't let them get you down. You would find out the truth, discover a way to keep your powers without Saiki's help.

One day, you'd learn about everything.

Holding on tight to that feeling of hope to keep disappointment from seeping in and messing with your head, you pushed your chair back into place and headed off to prepare for school.

Checking the mirror as you adjusted your uniform, you remembered the first time you met Saiki, the first time you got your powers back.

You had been so shocked when you felt the rush of strength so foreign and yet so familiar coursing through your veins, somehow finding balance when you saw Saiki's eyes narrowing in confusion.

You smiled at your reflection. Two years since then, huh?

Cutting through the silence, your phone pinged, interrupting your thoughts. It must be one of your friends. With a grin, you reached over and checked the tiny screen.
