It was late at night and Sehun hadn't come home. I rummaged through my things, hoping to find a decent shirt to change into. Boxes and boxes were piled high to the ceiling and I struggled to get through the mess.
Groaning, I found nothing but Sehun's clothes. "How am I suppose to find anything here?!" My voice echoed throughout the empty complex. Don't get me wrong, it was massively beautiful. The glossy windows that viewed the whole city, the sheer curtains that were stained with the night glow, the white walls that surrounded me. It was all perfect, all my hopes and dreams. Though, there was an uneasy feeling. It wasn't mine. It wasn't I who bought it myself, it was Sehun.
I am most thankful, but I was left feeling empty. In the end, I realized it was useless. It was wrong for me to feel this way, especially holding grudges over things so foolish like this. I took one of Sehun's shirts, praying he won't mind. I slipped it on and headed to our already set up bed. It was as if everything was unpacked besides our clothing.
I was living in an hotel rather than my new apartment. Scrolling through my contacts, I called my best friend from overseas. I seek her for advice when I felt out of place.
"You know this costs me money, right?" She bickered right as she picked up.
Sighing, I heard the unbearable background noise through the receiver. "I got married."
"I heard." Her voice was stable and calm.
Sitting up, I rose an eyebrow. "From who?"
"The internet. There are articles about how the CEO's son of a big company is next in line for the position and how he got married. I was shocked when I saw it was you, but I realized it was probably forced." I knew she shrugged, that was how she was.
I kicked the sheets to the end of my bed and mumbled, "It's an arranged marriage."
"I can't believe your mom set this all up. Then again, I would've too if I knew my daughter would be marrying into a rich family." She laughed.
I wasn't finding it anyway funny and spoke defensively, "he's a nice guy, okay? We both didn't want this either, but we're making the best of all of this."
I could already feel her rolling her eyes, "you could've at least smiled in your wedding photos. Did it hurt you that much to pretend like you're happy?"
Wondering, I thought back to how I was frowning all that day. Every minute before, I was upset about getting married to Sehun. "I have to go. Take care, and even though you're angry about this whole situation, just try your best to mend it. Change it to fit your lifestyle, you'll be surprised how different and similar the outcomes will be." My friend disrupted my thoughts and I wished her the best before hanging up.
"Why is it so dark in here?" A familiar voice followed by a door slam startled me. Walking outside, I found a lost Sehun in a field of cardboard boxes. His collar was unbuttoned and his luggage was at his side. "Where's the-"
My finger flicked the lights on, and the apartment glittered with a yellow fluorescent light. "Better?" I smiled wickedly and crossed my arms.
Sehun squinted and walked over to me. "Is that my shirt?"
"I couldn't find my clothes with all these boxes. Do you own an entire store or something?" Sehun looked around the apartment, at the opened boxes. Searching through an unopened one on his left, he pulled out my shirt.
"I suppose this is your's?" He smirked and pulled out another article of clothing - my bra. Running over, I tackled him and grabbed my clothes from his grasps.
"Are you saying you want your shirt back?" I blushed and held my clothes behind my back.
Sehun cocked his head and sighed, "it's fine. I don't really mind. Anyways, do you like this place?"
"I guess." I shrugged, trying to play off that I was in love with this apartment.
"You guess? Your mom told me this was your dream place. You've been saving up for it since you first saw it." Sehun strutted down the hallway, peering into each vacant room. "Did you already set up the furniture? You even have your shampoo already here?"
"It's not mine. Those things were there before I even came." I groaned and kicked one of the boxes. Knocking a tower of them down, three boxes fell on top of me. "Ouch." I squealed, bottom hitting the hardwood floor.
"You're so clumsy." Sehun pushed away the fallen items and helped me up. His arm caressing my forearm with a strong grip, and his other arm wrapped around my mid-waist.
"Thanks." I brushed my hair away from my face. "Why do you come home so late?"
Sehun began undoing his tie and walked into the bathroom. "I'm a very busy man." Was the last thing he said before he closed the door.
~~
"They want to meet you, like really badly." Sehun propped himself next to me on our bed. I scrolled through my social media while laying on my side, back facing him.
"Who are they?" I mumbled, eyes half lidded.
The bed shifted and I felt his warmth get closer. He leaned over and snatched my phone from my hands. Getting up, I glared at him. "Give it back." I gritted and tried to wrestle him for my device.
"Why do you have boys on your phone? Who are they?" He panned through my photos of celebrities.
"They're my kpop idols, now can you stop invading my privacy?" I groaned and punched the mattress.
Rolling his eyes, he tossed my phone onto the bed. "Change your wallpaper to me, instead."
"Why? I don't have pictures of you on my phone." I went back to my previous position.
"We can take one when we go to the company's benefit dinner." Sehun said casually and turned off the lights. My bright screen blinded me, causing me to lower down my brightness.
Rolling over, I looked at Sehun with questioning eyes. "What benefit dinner? Who wants to meet me?"
"Oh so now you care to listen to me." Sehun smirked and I lightly hit his arm.
"Tell me." I whined and pouted. Sehun chuckled and I realized his collar bones poked at his skin.
"My colleagues and employees, just everyone wants to meet my new wife." Sehun and I eyed each other in the darkness. Bursting into laughter, we both couldn't control ourselves.
"I forget I'm your wife, please don't call me that." I giggled and Sehun nodded.
"I agree. Also, they kept suggesting you to go to the benefit dinner." Sehun exhaled heavily and I ruffled his hair.
His jawline was very defined and his hollow cheeks caught my attention, "Do you eat regularly at work?"
"No, I don't have time to get food or to eat." Sehun held my hand and placed it back onto his head. Closing his eyes, he hummed a small tune. "Continue petting my hair, it feels nice."
And I did just that, I ran my fingers through his soft locks of hair. In a calming voice, I broke the sweet silence that we shared. "Well, make time for it."
Eyes shooting open, he squinted over to me. "What do you mean?"
"I'll make you lunch, bring it over to your office, and we are going to eat together." I smiled in the darkness.
"You're the boss." I couldn't see it, but under all the blank stares and facial expression, I knew he was smiling.
"Goodnight?" I patted his head once more and retreated my hand. Rolling back over to my edge, I pulled the blanket over the both of us.
But to my surprise, I heard the blankets shuffle and Sehun trailing over. He rested his head on my pillow and dangled his arm loosely over my waist. Peeking back, his face was a few inches away from mine and his eyes remained closed.
"Goodnight." He whispered, ending the night perfectly.
