Katrina, leaning against the wall of her best friends house, sighs and looks up at the evening sky. The array of purples, punks, oranges, and reds in the sky told her it was a little bit after 6. She pulled her hood over her head, and closed her eyes. After a few seconds she heard the sound of a car horn, it was Katrina's sister Bethany. "Kat come on, mom wants us home fast" Bethany said persistently, Katrina made her way over to the car and pulled the broken handle to open the door. "Where were you all day?" Bethany asked her, Katrina just shrugged and played with a hole in her dirty blue sweatshirt. Bethany sighed, putting the car into gear, she started off "You can run off Kat, I don't want you getting beat again". She brushed a hair behind her ear, and Katrina says "nothing I can't handle". They arrive at their apartment, Katrina grips the pocket of her sweatshirt as she sees the gang that lives in her building. Before Bethany opens the door, Katrina whispers "Don't say anything to them, they won't notice you, please.. I don't want to be alone tonight". Bethany closes her eyes and puts her keys in her pocket, and nods. She opens the door and Katrina is quick behind her, Bethany had her hand on the doorknob when we heard the low raspy voice of one of the men. "Ay suger, why don't you take that fine ass of yours and put it to work, I'm willing to pay" the man eyed her, Bethany pushed Katrina further behind her. "Dante, not tonight I-" Bethany was cut off but Dante hitting the fence "What did you say bitch? Now your sweet mama up there gave me rights to you, now you do what I say or I'll kill you" the man shrugged, his gaze cold "it's as simple as that". Katrina stiffened behind her, and Bethany spoke, voice shaky now. "Ok Dante, whatever you want just let me take my sister upstairs" she gripped Katrinas arm tightly as Dante said "she could join us, I mean she's a little thing but I don't mind loosening her up a bit". Bethany shoved Katrina through the door and mouthed 'go' to Katrina. Katrina bit her lip as she heard her sister say "She's not a part of this, you just have me, I'll give you a full night, just leave her be. Katrina couldn't hear anymore as they walked away, every night.. Katrina thought as she went upstairs to her apartment, she opened the door and the smell of vodka and sex overwhelmed her, she saw her mom lying on the couch and a man in the kitchen. He looked at her mom then her, gave a smug smirk and left. "Pig" she mumbled and went to her room, she didn't bother talking to her mother, she's too out of it and won't understand anything. She laid down on her soiled mattress she shared with her sister, and shut her eyes, trying to not think about her sister. Her sister is the one thing keeping her alive, selling herself along with our drugged mother, no one ever really wanted mom because she wasn't nearly as beautiful as Bethany. She finally drifted off to sleep.
