The calm voice of Sister Susanne echoed from the doorstep as she said,
"He's waiting for you, Father of the Church."
"Send him up to my office, Sister Susanne," the voice responded. "Oh, and please offer our guest coffee and cake; I will be there in ten minutes".
Steps headed up, disappearing into the distance.
As Sister Susanne walked down a long hallway, she asked,
"What brought you to our church?".
"Revenge on the whole fucking village!" said a dark voice with a little grin.
" If I may ask you why..."
Sister Susanne was interrupted by something she saw. It was a body. The mysterious guest noticed blood dripping from the ceiling. As drops of blood fall, they form large puddles on the floor.
"Your ceiling is leaking, perhaps," he said.
The flashing of lights interrupted Sister Susanne's sentence. From a distance, there was a scream. It was a child. The tears streamed down Susanne's face as she squeezed her eyelids, hoping that his tears would stop. She sat there unmoving for some time with choppy breathing and watery eyes. The guest's attention focused on Sister Susanne. He nods to acknowledge that endings are almost always a little sad, even when there is something to look forward to on the other side.
