I walked around town, heading from shop to shop, looking at all the wonderful shiny things from all across the realm. I heard some noise as a carriage was moving down the path, lead by huge Clydesdales. People moved out of the way for the carriage, some even smiled and waved. It took me a moment to notice it was the rulers of our city, The De Rolo's. As they stroled by I noticed the man behind the shop stall I was at wasn't paying attention so I quickly grabbed one of the pieces of jewelry off the display. I shoved it in my bag and looked back at the carriage, noticing a boy who looked about my age was looking at me. I slightly blushed as I get quite nervous when being around people my age. My eyes locked with his, he had pretty green eyes and wore circular glasses. After a few second I quickly looked away, blushing quite a bit, and I ran down the nearest alleyway. As soon as I was far enough away I sat down on the ground and reied not to freak out. "God I'm such a hopeless romantic." I mumbled to myself. I stood up and walked home, the shiny jewelry still hidden in my bag as I was going to sell it for hopefully quite a large amount of coin. Two days later I head out of my house to see dark clouds covering the usually sunny sky of WhiteStone. It was quite concerning, but I went on with my day. Weeks passed and the clouds kept on getting darker and the sun tree kept on getting more and more baren. A man and women claimed the De Rolo's throne, saying they all had passed due to an unknown illness and had given them the throne. I didn't buy a single word. There was no way all of them could have died, especially not without the towns people knowing. Rumors spread like wildfire here. But that was only the beginning of the terrors that would ensue here. *Years later* I quickly ran between houses, dodging the guards line of sight, and watching out for any of those treacherous, tall creatures that roamed during the night. I quickly weaved my way through the streets and to the outer city's wall. I found a hole just big enough for me to fit through and tried to squeeze through. A rock fell with a clunk noise and alerted some guards who I could hear quickly making their way towards me. I hastily made my way out of the hole and ran into the woods, leaving the sounds of the guards clunking armor behind, along with everything I've ever known. The woods were dark as it was night and the clouds blocked the moonlight. The farther I ran into the woods, the more the slight regret of leaving grew. It was cold and damp. I had to pull my jacket close to my body to keep myself warm. After running for a while I decided that I should fly for a bit and see where I am. I quickly grew out my wings to full length, jet black feathers floating everywhere. I opened my wings out and flapped as hard as I could, bursting me into the dreary night sky. After getting high enough into the sky I just floated for a bit. Happy to finally fly again for the first time in years. The feeling of the wind against my wings, the dampness of the air running against my body like a light mist. It was peaceful as I flew for as long as I could, not wanting to land, not wanting the feeling of peacefulness to end. After a long time the clouds disappeared and the sky was lit up by the light of the stars and the moon. Excited to see them in the first time in a while I twirled around in the air, laughing in delight. I finally felt free, free from everything that has happened in my life so far. Time flew by as I was flying in the now lit up sky, the light making the droplets of water on my wings light up like my own little stars. My wings grew heavy and tired, so I headed down toward sthe ground, landing gracefully, still smiling. I walked around for a bit, able to see almost everything as the moon was so bright. As time went on I started to grow tired, while walking I looked for a place where I could rest, eventually finding a big tree with a branch big enough for me to lay on without falling off. I climbed up the tree, laying down on the limb, holding my belongings close, and slowly drifting off to sleep. I woke up in the morning to the sound of someone talking and the sounds of animals chittering. I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and looked around for the source of the noise. Slowly scaling across the tree's limbs I saw a girl. She had red hair, elf ears, and antler looking things. She seemed to be talking to a small squirrel as it chittered at her. I watched them for a while, curious on how she could understand what the little rodent was saying. Either that or she was just crazy. After a while I hopped down from my spot on the tree and made my way towards her, "Um.. excuse me?" I said. "Huh? Oh! What are you doing our here?" She said questioningly, "Oh! Are you on the run? Or possibly hiding from someone?" "Uhh, yeah, the first option I guess- um- anyways, you wouldn't happen to know where I am right now, would you?" I asked. "Oh! Yes! We are near Emon currently! Why do you ask? Are you lost?" She asked, but before I could reply she grabbed my arm and pulled me away, "You look tired, so I'm gonna bring you to my place to rest, okay? It's not far from here!" She said. "Uh- you shouldn't trust a stranger that easily you know, what if I'm dangerous and could hurt you? Not like I am going to! But, what if!" I said hurriedly. "Nah, you seem friendly! I can just tell you are a good person!" She said, looking back at me and smiling. I couldn't help but feel comforted so I agreed to following her to her place. It only took a little bit and we were already there, it was a big, almost castle looking, building. She pulled me inside and started to lead me up some stairs when I heard some people yelling. My ears quickly perked up as I tensed up, my tail thrashing. "Oh! Don't worry about that, those are my friends, they are quite loud, but very nice!" She said. I slowly nodded as she continued to lead me up the stairs and into a room that was covered in plants. I stared in disbelief and joy at all the plants. Taking my time looking at each and every one. A few seconds later the girl walked infront of me with a bundle of clothes "Here! These are for you! Oh, and by the way my name is Keyleth! I'll be downstairs, so just head on down when you got done changing!" She said. I nodded, "My name is Cocobean, but you can call me Coco." I said slightly smiling. She nodded and headed out the door, shutting it gently. I looked through the clothes, a button up shirt, a pair of pants, a belt, and a nice coat. I changed out of my old clothes and into the new ones. I buttoned up the jacket and quietly headed out the door and downstairs. As I was about to reach the stairs I felt a hand get placed on my shoulder. "Well hello, how did you get in here?" Said a man with black hair and a fur cloak. The fur on my ears and tail puffed up and I backed away quite a bit. "Keyleth." I said quickly, standing in a defensive position. "Oooh, I see, Keyleth took you in, huh? Well, in that case there is no need to be worried, I'm one of her friends. So just calm down, yeah?" He said. I stayed in my defensive position, but nodded slightly. "Good! Well, my name is Vax'ildan, but you can call me Vax." He said. "Ah- alright, well- I'm just gonna go find Keyleth." I said and quickly rushed down the stairs. I looked around the place, trying to avoid any other people. I found a door and what looked like a kitchen on the other side. "Keyleth?" I said quietly. I walked into the room and looked around, no one was there. I sighed and continued down the hallway looking in each door, until I found an almost living room area. "Keyleth??" I said. "Huh? Oh, hey! Come on in!" She said. I shuffled in, pulling my coat closer to me. "Hey, I've been looking for you- I uh ran into one of your friends." I said sitting down on the other side of the couch she was sitting on. "Oh! They were nice to you, yes? If not I'll have to talk to them!" She said. "No no, he was nice, it was just awkward- I don't talk to people often so, yeah." I said rubbing the back of my neck. I looked around the room, it was big and spacious. "There isn't any other people I should worry about- right?" I said looking at Keyleth. "Oh uh, wellllll, there is a few more people- um, maybe 5 other people, oh, and a bear!" She said smiling awkwardly. "Wait wait wait, you have a bear?!" I said, "Can I see them?" I said excitedly. "Sure! Follow me!" She said and she lead me to the front yard of the building, where a bear sat under a tree. I quickly went over and sat near the bear. "Hello there! You're so cute!" I said, my tail wagging and my ears wiggling happily." The bear roared gently, came over near me, layed down, and plopped its head on my lap. "Awww, just like a puppy!" I said happily as I pet the bears head. Keyleth laughed, "Their name is Trinket!" I pet Trinket for a bit until they stood up, got close to me, then plopped down on top of me. "Ah! Trinket!" I laughed, "You gotta move!!" I said flailing around a bit, before getting tired and just layed there. I sighed and patted Trinkets face. "Pffft, it seems Trinket likes you!" Keyleth laughed. I heard a door open before someone walked out. "What in the world is all this noise coming from?" Said a woman's voice. "Oh! Hey, Vex! I was just showing Coco Trinket! Trinket seems to like them!" Keyleth said. "Coco? Who's Coco??" Vex said. "Hi." I said, my voice muffled by Trinket's fur. "Eh?! Keyleth, please tell me you didn't just take a random person home." The woman said. "Wellllll, maybe-" Keyleth said. "Uh, a little help here? Just kinda stuck-" I said. "Trinket. Come." Said Vex. Trinket gently got off of me and walked over to her. I sat up and breathed deeply. "Thanks, couldn't breathe there for a second." I said. "Keyleth, darling, why is this person here?" Said Vex. "Well, they were lost in the woods and they seemed nice, sooo, I brought them here!" Keyleth said. I hopped around to the tree and climbed up, sitting on one of the limbs. "Uh-huh, well, are you sure they are not, yknow, evil?" Said Vex. I swung my legs back and forth, my tail swaying. "Well, they don't look evil and they don't act evil, just a bit skittish. Like a lost cat!" Said Keyleth. I looked down at them, "Hey! I'm not a lost cat. I'm a- actually I'm not quite sure what I am-" I said thinking for a moment. "Well whatever they are, you are in charge of them." Vex whispered to Keyleth before heading back into the building. I huffed and swung backwards, hanging onto the branch using only my legs. Keyleth sighed "Well I'm going to go for a walk, hang around here and try to not break anything, okay?" Keyleth said, smiling at me. I nodded and she left. I just sat there upside-down for a while, glad to be alone, before I flapped my wings and floated back down to the ground, sitting on the grass at the bottom of the tree. I picked a flower and messed around with it for a while, humming a song. I layed down in the grass, humming the song, my tail wagging. "I'm so bored, ugh, why am I even still staying here, I could leave right now!" I said, standing up. "Yeah! I'm going to leave! I don't need anyone's help!" I said, walking toward the front gate. I walked out the front gate and ran straight into someone. "Hey! Who- who are you?" Said a man. I backed up a bit and shook my head before looking up and seeing a tall man. "Green eyes?" I questioned. "What? Excuse me I asked who you were." Said the man scowling. "Uh- um!" I stuttered, my face slightly red. "Uuuh-" I quickly spread out my wings, pulsed myself into the sky, and flew away to a tree a bit away. "Hey! Come back here!" He yelled at me as I flew away. As I landed I hid deep in the tree leaves, my face red, and I hid in my wings. "He looked familiar- he was so tall- and pretty- noooooo!" I muttered to myself. "Ugh, I gotta get myself under control, this is so stupid." I said to myself
