I had been looking around for the last hour.
Nothing.
There was nothing in here. All I had to escape with was some broken zip ties, a chair and five wooden crates.
I had been trying to pry a wooden plank off a box for a while now. My hands were red and I could feel blisters starting to form under my skin.
There was a nail sticking out of the wooden plank I was trying to remove. I was planning on using it to strike Levi on the head. I planned to hide behind the stairs and as he comes down I will jump him.
I grow tired and I start to kick the wooden box in frustration. "Ahhh," I groaned, as the loud sound of my shoe slamming against the box vibrated throughout the room.
One side of the box buckled, and the wooden plank was free on one side. I stuck my fingers under the wood and the texture scratched on my skin as I pulled the plank up.
It made a creaking sound and I fell back hitting the ground landing on my palms and my ass. I scrambled onto my feet and pick up my weapon. I grip it in my hands in victory, I practise swinging it in the air and then I realise I probably look like an idiot. I stopped and took another look around for cameras.
---
I had been perched down next to the stairs for hours. The only thing that kept me awake was the adrenaline and fear of dying in this room. Dying alone was something that I had always feared. In this place, no one would ever find my body, my kidnapper would probably bury me in the backyard or cut me into little pieces. Those were the thoughts that had been haunting me for the last hour, keeping me ready and alert.
I heard a rattling sound, it was my kidnapper, I jolt awake after finding myself slowly losing consciousness from the lack of nutrients.
My hands squeezed around the wood, gripping it so tightly with my sweaty palms.
Levi's steps felt slower than normal, he must've known what I'm about to do, but it was too late for me to turn back now.
The back of his head came into my view and I swung without thinking; as hard as I can and as fast as I can.
I felt the wooden plank being smacked out of my hands. The breath was taken out of my body, as I felt my back impact into the cold concrete ground. I gasp for air but it felt like I couldn't breathe, as the shooting pain runs through my body.
I opened my eyes.
Levi was on top of me. Pinning me down. The weight of his body was heavy on mine. I turned my head slowly to see that the wooden plank had been thrown across the room.
I turned back to face Levi, his hand gripped around my wrists, holding me tight to the ground.
"What the fuck are you trying to do?! Are you that fucking stupid?!" He spat in my face, and a look of anger struck over him. His eyebrows furrowed as he yelled at me. "Don't ever try that shit again!"
I flinched and tried to look away from his intense eye contact.
"I swear, Madeline if you-" He paused, his eyes screwed shut, as he winced in pain. "Fuck," He murmured.
Levi lifted himself off me. I took fast, deep breaths and crawled backwards on the floor, sitting in a ball, back pressed against the legs of the chair as I watch Levi walk to the stairs.
He turns away from me and grips the sides of his head.
"Are you okay?" I said softly watching him tense his muscles in pain, his body was stiff.
"Mind your own damn business," He snapped at me, he didn't turn to face me, he just walked up the stairs and slammed the door behind him.
I dropped my head to my knees as I sit on the cold concrete floor and breathe the stuffy thick air.
I felt something damp on my wrist. I lift my head a little and stare at my arm. There were small fingerprints of blood on my skin. Neither Levi nor I was bleeding, I recoil at the thought of whose blood this could be.
The lights above me flicker, before completely going out. I was left in the complete darkness.
This must be my punishment.
