(Oliver's POV)

As the car rolls over the fallen leaves, I sigh knowing that this won't be the last time we move. My mother looks in the mirror fixing her makeup, moving her brown hair around trying to make herself look perfect, she looks at me and smiles trying to make things smoother. I know she's trying to make me feel better by moving once again. I give her a quick smile and continue looking out the window listening to music.

After a few hours, we passed a sign that said Welcome to EastHallow in bright blue lettering. All the houses were big, and as the car passed by people that were outside looked up at us. Even kids who were playing a game stopped to look. As if they were a circus driving into their little town.

The car drove up the driveway in front of this decent two-story cream house with white trims. One of the window covers was a little loose from its hinges and was hanging to the side. As we all climbed out of the car I started to open the trunk and unpack the car. isn't it great? my mom asked me.

Pulling the luggage out I nod not wanting to talk. I hated when we moved, and not being able to make new friends. And not be able to have the normal life I wish I had. But being the son of the leader of The Union, we moved around a lot, never in the same place twice. My father turns the engine off and steps out of the car stretching, it was a long car ride.

My father being 6ft tall with black hair always has a serious look to him, walking around the car he hugs my mom. I promise you this will be the last time we move he says to her with his hands around her waist. My mother laughs knowing that a lie you say that every time.

As they laugh I finally get the rest of the stuff out of the car which isn't much. My father looks up at me and calls my name to catch the keys. I hurry to open the door to finally see the inside. As I always do, I look around the place checking for interesting things that I like. The house was bigger than the one before and had a lot more stuff in it. It had the fresh paint smell as I walked around, the walls painted a light gray shade. After checking out the living room and kitchen I headed up the stairs in search of my new room.

At the top of the stairs, I make a left turn and open the brown heavy door, the bright sun shines in. The windows were facing a small patch of forest and the backyard. From my view, I could see the new school, and even some of the neighbors. Some swimming, some playing. I look around my room. Having a bed and a dresser I drop my book bag on the floor and sigh.

After a few moments, I hear my phone buzzing in my pocket. It's a message from Harper. I forgot she moved out here a few months ago. We have been friends since we were little, both of us going to training together. Back then she was taller than me by a few inches and was the top of the class at everything. Running, fighting, and even art. She even got to go on her first mission before the rest of us.

Harper: hey did you guys get here already?

Oliver: yeah we just here and unloaded the car.

Harper: OMG I cant wait to see you tomorrow your going to love it here, and its been so ling since I seen you!

Oliver: yeah me too.

Harper: so you aren't you excited? what I heard from my parents there's been a few sightings around here.

Oliver: yeah I guess so...

Harper: hey don't worry I bet you'll get your first mission soon. You did just turn 16 so it should be coming any min now, and it'll be so amazing to finally make a kill.

Before I had time to replay I heard my father call my name from downstairs.

Oliver: yeah well I gtg, I'll talk to you later.

I put my phone in my pocket and head down the stairs seeing my father sitting at the table and my mother cooking us dinner. my father clears his throat " Oliver, your mother and I have been talking, and since you just turned 16 a few weeks ago, it's time for you to take on your first mission.." A faint smile appears on my face, I have been waiting for this moment for such a long time. He continues "It's not going to be a very big job and I decided that Harper will be with you too, it'll start tomorrow" " I can't believe it, thank you I'll try my best," I say trying to not fall out my chair out of excitement. I hurry and eat my food fast so I can tell Harper the news.

My parents haven't given me a mission because they always tell me that they wanted to keep me safe, I am the next person in line to take over the family company.

Harper: yes! finally a new mission, OMG this is going to be so fun for us together. I wonder what it is.

Oliver: yeah I can't wait. Hopefully, it'll be exciting.

Harper: yeah I remember my first one like it was yesterday. this is going to be great for you too

Oliver: But we do have to go to school tomorrow, to Denzel Academy.

Harper: oh you're going to like it here and i will introduce you to my friends

Oliver: yeah that would be great, imma head to bed I'll see you tomorrow

I turn my phone off and set it to charge and open my window a little bit. The cool came in since it was the start of fall. I flop on my bed excited for tomorrow even though I have to start classes, I want to make my parents proud and do well on the mission. As I started drifting off to sleep a soft sound came through the window like a dog howling. But before I knew it I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
