𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲, I've stuck by them like a leech, well according to Joel. I never really intended to stick with the pair this long. After I begged them for some help, they dragged me along to the Boston quarantine zone. They made me stay outside while the two went in. Minutes became hours, and soon enough the sun rose. I was starting to wonder if they had just decided to forget about me and move on. Not that I blame them, I did spring myself onto them and Joel was really reluctant to bring me along. Though, before I could find help elsewhere, I see a figure approach from the city walls.

"How are you holding up?" Tess asks, while pushing me back down as I was in the process of getting up. I wince a bit from the wound and look up at her, a smile coming out.

"I'm still breathing. Though it got cold last night, so I had to lay under some rubble." I answer, pointing over to the makeshift bed I had scrounged up. Tess whipped her bag to her hip and knelt down besides me. Taking a peek into her bag, I spot a few cans of food, what seemed to be just scrap nails, and a lot of duct tape.

"That's on Joel. He made me a bit of a hoarder." She said with a dry chuckle. Scooting me aside, she brought out a sewing kit and placed it next to me.

"I'm not going to lie to you, but this is going to hurt like a bitch." She said with a sigh. "But, it'll heal up and soon enough you'll be running marathons again." She laughed. I looked at with a bit of a squint, not sure what a 'marathon' is.

"A marathon." She said as though it would be any clearer the second time. "Y'know actually it was before your time so just forget about it." I shrugged and Tess let her head fall. She squeezed the side of her flashlight and flicked open the box, bringing out some tools.

"Y'know... most men I know would've bled out by now. Yet here you are." She stated, getting into a better position to try and patch me up. I lean back a bit to try and give her some room, while also feeling a grin creep up on me.

"I don't know about that. Damn near feels like I am dead. The numbness from my leg finally reached the rest of my body. Feels like I'm in some sort of limbo..." I say, gazing off into the distance. The orange hue of the sun shining bright behind the leaning sky scrapers.

"Yeah? Well you're about to be in one hell of a wake up call."

"What do you mean-!"

My entire body tenses up as I reach for her wrist. A yell escapes my mouth as she plunges the needle into my skin and out. As she moves the needle through the wound, the blade is stained with my crimson blood.

"I could've done with a warning! Fuck-grh...!"

"That was my warning, now stop being a baby and let me finish this. And would you stop moving?! It's already difficult as is." She whips her hair from her sight as she takes sharp breath.
