Adrien stared at his phone for longer than he should have. He knew that once he looked back up, he'd have to come up with a plan. But he had been thinking about it for weeks, and nothing, no ideas. There was nothing that could perfectly encapsulate how he felt for Luka. What do you give someone you've already given your heart too? Adrien drove around aimlessly, going to store after store, searching for the perfect item. But nothing felt special enough for Luka.

Adrien laid his head on his steering wheel in defeat. He felt the clock ticking in his head, boring into his skull with each movement of the hand. He started banging his head against the wheel, hoping the pain would silence that awful ticking... it did not. Adrien let out a sigh. There was no way he could give up just yet. He pulled himself together and got out of his car. Surely there would be something at the mall, something that would make the perfect anniversary gift.

The fluorescent lights hummed with each flicker, attracting bugs from the outside world. The amalgam scent of hot pretzels, orange chicken, and KFC filled Adrien's nose. He walked down the food court, past the families happily devouring their food. The first store on the right was a Build-a-Bear. That would definitely be cute.

Adrien stepped inside, and was greeted with a friendly cardboard cutout of a stuffed bear. He combed through the shelves, rummaging through the different kinds of plushies. There were plenty of bears; too clichê. A lion? That's not really Luka. Sylveon? I think he's more of a Glaceon guy. None of them were good enough for him. Not even a hand stitched stuffed animal would be good enough, not that Adrien knew how to make one anyways. He was just going to have to try somewhere else.

The next store was Hot Topic. Adrien was nervous to go in, there were so many goth teenagers. He carefully stepped around a group standing by the entrance and fled to an open corner. Hanging on the wall were graphic t-shirts with shows Adrien had never heard of. What the hell is Danganronpa? Across from them were piles of ripped jeans and studded belts. Certainly Luka's style, but nothing he didn't already have. Adrien moved across the wall to a box of assorted blind bags. While the mystery is fun, they certainly wouldn't make a great anniversary present. Adrien left Hot Topic feeling dejected.

He tried looking through fye, Target, even Claire's, but nothing felt right for Luka. Maybe Adrien was being too picky. He always felt like his presents weren't special enough, especially when compared to what Luka would get him. Maybe he could just... write him a card? Eh what's the point. Adrien sat down in the food court, his head in his hands.

He tried to clear his brain, just so he could think about something else for one second. He rubbed his forehead, pushing away the ticking headaches. Adrien hadn't realized how focused he was, because he could suddenly hear the music playing through the speakers. He started unconsciously tapping his foot to the beat. It was pretty infectious, he couldn't help but feel at ease. And that's when it hit him: he should make a playlist for Luka! Finally, Adrien felt the lightbulb appear above his head. He ran back to his car and drove home, ready to create his masterpiece.

Adrien awoke the next morning to an odd silence. He looked at the space next to him, only to find that Luka wasn't there. After changing and brushing his teeth, he shuffled into the kitchen. To his surprise, Luka was standing there with a big smile, surrounded by streamers.

"Good morning, Sleepyhead," Luka let out with a giggle. Adrien walked over and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"You did all this?" Adrien asked.

"Yea, I just used whatever we had laying around," Luka admits.

"It looks great." Adrien wrapped his arms around Luka, feeling bad about what he got him.

"What's wrong?"

"Well..." Adrien looks down at his feet, "I had trouble finding you the perfect gift. The only thing I could think of was making you a playlist." Adrien pulls it up on his phone. "It's stupid.' Adrien looks away while Luka examines the phone. He swipes through the playlist before laughing. Adrien didn't realize it was that bad of a gift.

"Sorry, I'll get you something else." Adrien sheepishly grabbed his phone.

"No, no, I love it," Luka reassured him. "I just," he reached into his pocket and grabbed his phone, "I made you a playlist too." Adrien looked up at him with big eyes. "I didn't know what to get you either. We've been together for ten years, it gets kind of difficult after that." A wave of relief washed over Adrien. He couldn't help but burst out into laughter.

"I've been stressing out for months," Adrien confessed. "I'm so glad we were on the same page."

"Me too." The two held each other, as they leaned in for a kiss. They really did understand one another.

"Happy anniversary." Luka looked down at Adrien with his deep blue eyes.

"Happy anniversary."
