A trip to the nurse

I wake up with my head feeling like a brick. As I stared around, two worried faces swam into view. And neither of them were the nurse's.

"Thank god you're okay!" Cody cried, reminding me of a squeaking pest. "Don't you ever do that to me again!"

"Back off Williams, give her some space." Shane said, in a voice as smooth as butter, even when he was giving a threat.

"Don't tell me what to do. She's my girlfriend!"

"No, actually, I think you'll find Paige the school slut is your girlfriend. Now Cody, I'd like you to leave, before I say something I'll regret." I wouldn't regret it at all.

Cody glared at me, but then the nurse waddled in and he sloped off, knowing he was defeated.

"How are you feeling now miss Adams?"

I thought long and hard about it. How was I feeling. Annoyed. Betrayed. Relieved. But I think out of all the answers, it would probably have to be: happy. And I was. I was out of a dead-end relationship, one I've been trying to get out of for years. But the best part is, sat next to me is the school bad boy, who's still here to check I'm ok, even though the clock tells me it's way past school hours. I was basically in heaven. Apart from my pounding head ache and churning stomach.

"Sore miss." I replied, coming to the conclusion that she didn't want to know about the other stuff.

"How so?" The nurse enquired. Well, sore because I've just realised I've been wasting my time for a good 4 years in a rubbish relationship. Sore because I know that if I asked for he boy next to me, I'd get one night with him and no phone call. Sore because tonight I have to go back to my empty house, with no mother to tell me it'll be okay, and no father to give me a huge hug. They'd be at work.

"Sore head and stomach miss."

"Right, well I'll give you some tablets and I'm going to suggest that you get your parents to wake you every hour of sleep tonight, to check for concussion."

I panicked, "But they'll be at work!" I whimpered, knowing that work comes first for them.

She gave me that pitying look, one that I was all too used to, and hated with a passion.

"We'll perhaps you can stay with your boyfriend," she said, pointing not at the door that Cody had just walked out of, but at the leather clad bad boy sat beside me.

"Oh no-"

"Of course she can," Shane cut me off, staring innocently at the nurse, a cute smile on his face. I saw the nurse give him a love-struck smile back. I rolled my eyes.

"Thanks," I muttered, narrowing my eyes at him. He just smiled sweetly back.

How did this happen. What would he be expecting of me. Would he be expecting me to act like all those other blond bimbos I see perched on his arm every day, put out then leave. Or was this just a friendly gesture? I'm really doubting it's the second option, and I'm by far not up for the first.

"Wow." That was all I could say. My mum owned her own business, so our house was big, but it was nothing compared to the Carter's.

"Thanks," he said gruffly, before hopping out of his huge car to come open the door for me. I was amazed by the gesture. Yep, he was definitely trying to get into my pants, otherwise he'd never be this nice.

But before he let me get out, he stopped me.

"I'm-sorry-that-I-punched-you," he mumbled, looking at the ground.
