I felt truly happy. Honestly, even when I've been with Dani on one of our girls sleep overs, I've never been this happy. We had a great night watching all kinds of great films and stuffing our faces. Then, we decided, seen as I had to be woken every hour anyway, may as well make it an all nighter. We've sat and told spooky stories for the past hour. I have only just met these guys, but I honestly just wanna live with them. They're awesome!
"So, what's your most embarrassing moment Vi?" Ben asked, coming closer as though he wanted to be the only one to know. I shoved him away with a grin.
"Well, when I was about 10 years old, me and Dani had decided today was the day we were going to become more mature. So we raided her mum's make-up draw, finding everything we wanted. And something else. We didn't really know what they, seeing as we were only 10. So, we decided they must have been like ultra cool gloves, but just for the fingers." I knew the boys knew where this was going, and I could see the laugh forming on their lips. "So we walked down into town, expecting admiration from all sides as we waved flirtily at all the boys, then I saw my crush. The only problem was, he knew what they were and we didn't at the time." By this time, the boys were turning red from the effort of trying not to laugh.
"I think we all knew what they were." I ended the story on that note, not wanting to say it. I began to laugh, which they took as a signal that they could laugh too. We laughed for a good 5 minutes, before being able to calm down.
Soon, the topic moved on from the embarrassing to the happiest moments of our life. I was going to say this moment right here, right now, with all these boys, until I remembered the true best day of my life.
"The 8th of May, last year." I said suddenly, causing them all to look up.
"God, I couldn't even remember my mum's birthday last year, how the hell do you know the exact best day of your life?" Zack asked incredulously.
Of course, I had my reasons for knowing the exact date, but I just ignored the question.
"We all went down to the beach for a bonfire, none of us knowing that Tony had left stacks of water balloons there to surprise us with. It was the best water fight ever, and we only stopped when we got tired of running back and forth to the ocean to fill up our water guns."
"Who's Tony?" Danny asked, not knowing that that wasn't a question I wanted asking.
"My brother." I said shortly, hoping that would put an end to the questions.
"How old, maybe we know him?" Shane questioned, not noticing how uncomfortable I found this conversation.
"You won't know him." With that, I made my excuses to go and get them all some snacks. I was stood leaning on the counter, trying to regain my breathing, willing the memories to go away. I hated it. I hated being like this.
"You ok?" I heard a voice ask me from behind. I recognised it as Danny's voice. Of all the boys, I had come to thinking that Danny was maybe the most distant, whereas the rest of them had tried to make me feel welcome.
I took a deep breath, put on a fake smile and turned around. "Course," I replied brightly.
I grabbed the snacks and Danny helped me take them back through. Shane looked at me worriedly, seeming to pick up on my feelings. I smiled at him, and though he didn't look convinced, he just wrapped his arms around my legs and pulled me down in front of him, then bending me so I was leaning on his legs.
"Glad you're here darling".
"Get off my you slutty boy," I teased, pushing him off.
