Monster Battle Royale

It only took over five hundred years for monsters to become the ruling race. It started slowly at first with a few sightings a year of crypto creatures. As the human population pushed into areas that had never seen humans before, there were going to be clashes.

A few indigenous people go missing, no big deal, it happens, people go missing all around the world every day. With the spread of the newcomers to new lands, more and more people started to go missing. Leaders started to take notice when over a year almost half of their numbers were dead or missing.

Locals got blamed for it and were massacred for the misguided beliefs that they were responsible for the deaths. Some locals had a magic of their own that was connected to the earth and spirit world. It scared many explorers and vicious lies and rumors started to justify wiping out whole villages.

Those who could tap into the magic were able to create protectors for their villages and tribes from the invaders. So began the start of the legends of mythical creatures such as vampires, werewolves, zombies, and many more. Now not all creatures were created by magic but by mother nature herself. She was the spirit protector of all things living, including the earth.

In her rage at the destruction of species, forests, and waterways, she created wraiths, shapeshifters, wendigos, and bigfoots. Over the generations, she evolved her creations into having coherent thoughts, some learned how to speak and some even learned how to do advanced math. Eventually, each species created its societies that stayed hidden from humans

Humans were very good at several things, breeding, war, and colonizing every inch of available land and water. They spread to every corner of the earth, pushing out or destroying every species that got in their way. Humans thought that they were the superior species, that they ruled the earth and everything on it.

For over five hundred years, the creatures let humans think this until it was time to come out of hiding and take their rightful place as protectors of the earth and everyone and thing on it. Of course, humans tried to fight back but even though there were billions of them they were overwhelmed by the creatures.

After another five hundred years of war has led to a peace of sorts between all of the different societies. The humans were able to convince some of the creatures to fight for them to protect their kind from extinction. Clans fought against each other, nature creatures fought against magical creatures with humans on every side of the war.

In the peace that followed, a High Council was created with representatives from each species. There are over one thousand reps with only one high king and queen. Not every high king and queen is from the same species, most of the time they are different kinds of species.

They rule for four years and then new leaders are selected from the winners of the battle royale competition. This set of rulers or Queen Nagara from the Naga race and King Romar from the Vampire race.

This year's competition high rollers are Lord Armon of the Werewolf court and Hosanna Finn of the Jamaican zombie clan. Both have beat every contender in their class without a single loss for the last three years. Their rivals are gargoyles Kalgard and Otra, the first husband and wife team in over fifty years.

An announcement goes out to every computer, cellphone, tablet, and tv in the world listing the top ten male and top ten female contenders for the seats.
