First Person Omniscient POV
Black was all you could see. That's all you saw for a good 5 minutes. 'Am I dead?', you thought. 'Is this what death is like?'
'No... I can hear. I can hear the sound of birds.'
You opened your eyes and they were met with a dark forest. The fungi on the trees that you saw earlier were glowing, providing you some strange looking light. It was strange.
You would have gawked if you weren't scared and angry out of your mind right now. You had no idea where you were, your whole body hurt, and you were sure there was absolutely no reception here.
After a minute of calculating what you might do, you slowly but surely got up to look at your surroundings and get a better grip on them. You also looked around for your backpack since that fell and hit you. You found it not too far from where you stood, walking over towards it and picking it up.
One of the straps was broken. You let out a defeated sigh, picking it up from it's not broken strap and loosening it so you could wear it over your shoulders. After you got that done, you went back to looking around for an opening.
It wasn't long before you found one, it was to your right. You looked at it, furrowing your brows in thought. It was pitch black. You took out your phone to see if it had any battery. 90 percent. You fist pumped, praising yourself for only using your phone throughout the day for music and charging it before you went out.
You turned on your flashlight and began walking through the trees, the amount of them multiplying as you went further and further into this strange forest. You were hoping someone else was somewhere outside of this forest, or that maybe there was a civilization somewhere in here would be kind enough to help you. You hoped that at least you could find a better signal or something, you only had enough supplies to last a few days out here all alone.
You thought about how that little monkey had just taken your lanyard. It made you so angry, why did you have to keep your lanyard in your pocket?! You could have worn it like any other normal person.
You shook your head, angry at yourself and irritated at the baby monkey. "This was supposed to be a fun hiking trip.", you grumbled to yourself whilst limping through the strange wilderness with aching legs. You mentally cursed at that annoying monkey who dragged you into this and yourself for not using a lanyard the way it is intended to be used.
The night was quiet and cold, surrounding you with tranquility. It was nice... You decided to take a few deep breaths to calm down a little, that would help you think of a strategy a lot easier.
But just as you were calming down, you were startled by an unsettling gurgling coming from somewhere above you. Your heart pounded as you looked at the trees above you, noticing nothing but leaves and slight tears in the 'green'ery that revealed a cloudy nighttime sky. The gurgling got closer, your anxiety got stronger. You came to the conclusion that whatever was making that noise was behind you.
You turned around, your eyes widening at the figure looming over you. A massive, hulking beast with the webbed feet of a frog, bill of a pelican, and the claws and teeth of a tiger lunged at you with a lust for blood. It's gurgle turned into a shrill shriek, piercing your ears and making your already aching head throb in agony.
You instinctively turned and ran for your life. Your heart pounded harshly, adrenaline stabbing the muscles in your body to help you get away. Though this had been the fastest you had ever run, you couldn't get away. You backed up into a big, thick tree with nowhere to run. Having nowhere to go, you defeatedly closed your eyes, waiting for a swift death. Waited. Waited... Waited?
