When the snake women attacked her, Atala was quite sure she had gone mad. First it had been seeing a bull-man behind a lamppost. Next, a flock of what she was sure were flying horses (pegasi or whatever they were called). Now this. They had come invading her home and Atala was not in the mood. She hadn't been able to steal or beg for lunch and when these snake freaks arrived, that had been the last straw. Unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks, she killed both. They exploded into yellow dust. Atala rolled her eyes. "Gross," she muttered as she blinked the yellow dust out of here eyes. She walked out of her alley in a second attempt to get some lunch. She tried begging (usually didn't work) and she got a sandwich. She tried stealing from a kitchen and her bounty was a whole roast chicken, a bowl of noodles and a cup of tea. Just as Atala was finishing her lunch, more snake women showed up.

"Ssssssome meat!" one hissed. "Die demigod!" the other snarled. Atala just had time to think 'Demigod?' before both snake women attacked. Ugh. Today was so not her lucky day. A couple of punches and kicks later, Atala found her cardboard box covered in another layer of yellow dust. Muttering a couple of curses, she dusted it off. When she was done, Atala heard a crunch of metal behind her. Whirling around with her arms up, ready to punch something she saw....a girl. Curly blond hair, stormy grey eyes and tanned skin she looked like a regular girl. But the bronze dagger that she held and her orange shirt that had the initials "C.H.B" made her seem like something more than just a blonde girl. "Y-y-you just killed two dracenae." the girl said in shock. Atala blushed. "Um, yeah," then she regained her composture. "Who are you? What are you doing here? What are dracenae?" The girl sighed. "I'm Annabeth and I'm looking for demigods. Also-" Atala interrupted.  "Demigods? Thats what that other snake lady said. Doesn't demigod mean....half human and half...." Atala trailed off. Annabeth looked like she wanted to say more, but shook her head. "Come." she said. With that, she set off not even looking to see if Atala was following.
