She didn't know why suddenly she felt as if she was a lamb, trapped in a room, between two wolves.
A little scared, Delia glanced at the floor, from the corner of her eyes seeing Muraco moving past her and taking a seat on his chair.
"I want to talk about something," he announced, tossing his gun on the desk while his gaze shifted from Luan to Delia. "Lia, go and take a seat."
That's it. Her plan had terribly failed. Is she doomed?
What will be the punishment this time?
Whenever she had done something punishable Muraco had always punished her, like by cutting off dessert from her meals for a week or two.
How will he punish her this time?
Delia sighed, not knowing that at the moment, he was not the same Muraco she used to face on a daily basis.
Right now, he is the boss of the American mafia.
"I told you to take a seat."
Dazed in her thoughts, it took her a couple of minutes before she realised what Muraco said. She looked up to see him watching her carefully.
"Lia, come here." She heard and moved her head to glance at Luan who had already occupied a seat on the couch."Sit next to me." He patted the empty spot beside him, all the while staring at her, intensely.
Feeling cornered, she obeyed.
As much as she could with her legs still stuck on the ground, she slowly made herself move, walking towards the couch and sitting there next to Luan
"What do you want to talk about?" She spoke after the silence became suffocating, her voice sounding strained.
If he wanted to lecture her about her failed plan, then she was ready to hear, but in return, somewhere she was slowly becoming adamant to get some answers from him, as the images of him holding a gun and threatening her flashed in her mind.
"Is it about the Madison Enterprises?" She questioned based on the clues her mind was slowly providing her.
"No, it's actually about a contract," he spoke and she somehow felt Luan stiffening beside her, as if alarmed.
It seemed that Muraco wasn't planning to lecture her after all, he was planning to threaten her actually --- Delia gulped in anticipation, fear quite visible in her brown eyes.
"In the mafia, promises are valuable." With an emotionless face, he explained while Delia's mouth parted in a soundless gasp. "Very valuable."
"Wha-t? What do you mean? Mafia?" Her voice trembled. "Promise?"
Her mind was racing faster than lightning and her eyes were bulging out of their sockets as soon realization dawned on her; this was it. This answers all of her questions. They both are in the mafia!
How long has it been? Was it before her uncle passed away?
"Promises - we swore them with our life, and value them more than anything," he continued speaking, while his oceanic eyes watched hers attentively. "Once a promise is made, it can't be broken."
But, Delia couldn't reply, so she just stared back into those coldly glittering oceanic eyes with disbelief, fear, and anxiety, trying to process everything he'd just said.
