For a clear opportunity, to finally break those cuffs that they strapped around my hands, I had waited for years. I had forgotten the concept of pain, grey walls drove me near crazy.

It was a slow process. I managed to get my hands on one of the drivers that was left by my side during a procedure. It then took me weeks to finally point the foundation screw that held the cuff together. Each day's result of effort was about a turn, two, or even none, weekly averaging around three to four, which gradually increased as the screw began to loosen. Impatience gnawed at my being, alongside the anxiety of the thought of perhaps failing this mission ate me from the inside.

It continued till the day when they decided to attempt running a shock at a higher voltage than usual through my body to test the durability it held. I now felt slightly unsure about whether I could accomplish it. I quickly unscrewed the cuff and waited as the 'doctor' closed in on me, to throw away the driver in my hand at the camera that recorded the process. As the crack of the lens hit both our eardrums, I used the opportunity created by him getting caught off guard to strike a punch into the lower jaw of the man.

I nearly blacked out at that moment. For the first time in so long, so long that I had lost count, my fists finally hit someone's face. The satisfaction and panic from the smooth progression ate at me - I could only hope I was not getting myself jinxed for the next part, which may or may not be times harder than what I have already accomplished by now.

The man, struck at his jaw, had faded away. I quickly scoured his pockets for the key card and then buried it inside my pocket. Then I picked up his face and his arm and dragged them to the retina inspection bar at the door, and pulled his eyelids open in front of the scanner. I, then, pressed his thumb on the fingerprint scanner, gaining permission to exit the room. Next, picking him up on my back, I tried my best to balance him on my weakened shoulders, and tie some wires that I ripped out from non-functional cables, tying them around the two of us. As I did so, I threw over a white lab coat over myself and the man tied to my back, buttoning it up and started walking confidently, outside the door.

From there on, I could only run and hope I wouldn't run into anyone. I ran down twisting hallways, searching for an exit. I had also managed to come across a map of the layout once, however it was hard to obtain without garnering attention.

The hardest part of the entire ordeal was the following escape. The safest exit that I had managed to secure was guarded by two armed guards outside, holding rifles that even appearing in front of would be a wish for death. The only reason I was able to observe them was due to one of the other workers in the laboratory leaving to get some equipment from a different base.

I ran up to the large metal gates, that, similar to the rest of the facility, required identity confirmation through a key card. As I did so, I ran back with the man and threw him on the floor, slipped beside the door, out of sight of the men that would step in.

Unfortunately, I knew my escape would not be smooth when only one of the two guys stepped in to inspect the guy who seemed to have passed out in front. I quietly slipped out and smoothly knocked out the guard outside, pulling the gun off of his torso and throwing on the gun strap. As I picked up my pace, I heard the guard outside call out to his partner, before rushing outside at the sight of his partner passed out and shooting at me, immediately calling in reinforcements that had arrived before I knew it. Bullets had begun to surround me as I ran towards the forest beside to blend into the darkness that was cast over by the trees.

I was too high on adrenaline to pay attention to my surroundings, but I knew something was wrong when I noticed that a bullet had hit me just below the back of my neck, where my serial code stood out. what made me aware of that was the shock that ran through my body, nearly paralyzing me entirely.

I could now only drag my feet, a heavy spark at the spot I was shot. If there was any spot in the human body that could rid one motionless, it was either the brain or heart. Not the back. Even more suspicious, was the dark static at the corner of my eyes, as if my eyes were losing their vision, forcing me to pass out.

Voices were ringing in my head, which I could not recognise. I had managed to drag myself into the forest and hide under a caved rock. I had dropped to the ground with a loud thud, I never remembered myself to be so heavy.
