If there was one thing that Nico knew, it was that demigod dreams always meant something. Sometimes they were glimpses into the present, future, or past, but whatever time frame it was, it was always for a reason, in which the universe was pushing him towards his new quest with a prophecy.
What his supposed quest had to do with a child's bedroom, Nico had no idea.
Nico vaguely remembered collapsing onto his coffin bed before ending up here, tired from some...camp meeting or something? He couldn't remember many details - just something about satyrs going missing or whatever. Putting together the hazy, dark atmosphere, the unexplainable eerie music, and just plain bizarreness of him being in some random child's room, he subconsciously concluded that he was, in fact, in a dream (though he was mostly just very confused).
Now that Nico had that out of the way, he was able to observe his surroundings. It was completely dark, with only a red lava lamp in the corner as his source of light. The illuminated wall had a message scratched on it: FIND ME. 'Cause that isn't creepy or suspicious at all.
Turning on the flashlight that was (apparently) in his hand, Nico finally got a glimpse around the room. It look like a normal kiddy bedroom, with plastic toys and plushies sprinkled all over the room. He recognized a few of them from that weird pizzaplex place that just opened in New York – not that Nico had ever been there. That place was infamous for how expensive it was, and Nico was not wasting his precious money on those guys.
As he was looking around, he noticed another message scrawled on the wall above the dresser: DO YOU TRUST ME? →, pointing towards the door right in the corner.
No, Nico thought bluntly. Everything about this screamed danger to him. Yet, as if in a trance, I walked towards the door, turning the knob and opening it with a creak. Now Nico was in some hallway that definitely did not belong in a house; if anything, it was more fitting to a pizzeria. To his side was some kind of security office, an empty chair turning as if to greet him when he flashed his light on it. An eerie message was scrolled outside the office's wall: HE'S COMING.
...Yeah, he's definitely not going that way. Instead, Nico followed the red arrows to the opposite side door, where he entered some sort of birthday party room, not unlike those ones you would see at Chuck E. Cheese. Except, of course, there was a mangled clown...robot...dog...thing...hanging from the ceiling and staring straight at him. the most disturbing part wasn't its appearance though; it was how it looked at him with pity, as if Nico had just walked in on a cruel fate.
The moment their eyes locked was the same moment, "Mangle" (as Nico now called him) immediately made a beeline for the boy. Nico put his arms in a defensive stance, bracing for impact. However, before Mangle could pounce, it let out an agonizing screech, before just...glitching out of existence. At least, that's what it looked like to him...
Before Nico could question this any further, he heard a creak from across the hall, and upon turning around found an open door. Entering, he found another hallway with an office and an open vent right next to him. The window of the office flashed two glowing yellow eyes that glared into Nico's soul.
Nico bolted towards the door on the left, not feeling like dealing with...whatever the Hades that thing was. He ended up in straight hallway, not unlike one you would see inside a house, with doors on each side, as well as one at the end. The floor was littered with colorful balloons and streamers, as if some kind of The door at the end was marked with an X, with the message scrawled above it reading THIS WAY.
Upon entering it, he found himself...right back where he started. Great.
As Nico attempted to figure out where the Hades he was supposed to go, he was attacked once again by the strange animal mascots. Admittedly, they were much less mutilated than Mangle, but they still have him a heart attack whenever they leaped at him. It also did not escape his notice that each and everyone of them "glitched" out of existence just before attacking, complete with the same mechanical scream as Mangle. He even could see the fear in their eyes as they clipped out of existence, which was definitely not normal for robot animals.
