"The only impossible journey is the one we never begin."— Tony Robbins
Fall 2020
The feeling of nostalgia from being inside of "The New Directions" dressing room, somewhere Foster hadn't been in years, caused warmth and the feeling of home to hit hard. Home was a word that was once hard to describe; a lesson to learn and a definition to find. But now Home wasn't a place or just one person. Places only mattered because of who was there. Home to Foster Hudson was multiple people, different levels of home. The laughter and excited chatting that filled the room, pushed a small smirk onto Foster's lips.
The original five, with Foster and Finn's presence in their hearts, were together once more. It felt good despite the nerves of the performance they were about to do. While the group had stayed in contact, was still that forever family, it had been awhile since they could all be there in one place. Foster's icy blues looked back at the group as fingers tried to work on getting the damn bow tie tied. "Foster," Artie started catching the Hudson's attention, "I'm surprised you were able to get out of New York with that match tomorrow. Aren't you starting?"
Foster chuckled, letting go of the bow tie—giving up for now—turning to lean against the vanity toward the group with a half shrug. "It was an argument, but there is nothing in this world that would stop me from being here. If they want to bench me, oh well."
"Well at least you have your priorities right now," Rachel sassed but there was a smile tugging at the edge of her lips, letting Foster know it was a tease and not a dig. "Also, if they bench you at least you know an amazing lawyer to help you sue." The group laughed as Foster's eyes rolled.
"I do," Subconsciously Foster started to play with the silver band that rested on the left ring finger, one that was never removed.
Kurt shook his head, his laughter dying out, "Anyway! Does anyone know where the Unholy Trinity is? I haven't seen them yet." The group looked at Foster wanting to know. They only had a few minutes before they were supposed to head to the auditorium.
"Yeah, Foster. Where's the missus and her other halves?" Mercedes teased with a wide smile. Just as Foster went to answer, a voice reached their ears one that they all recognized.
"Fozzie!" Mercedes let out a loud laugh while Kurt tried to pull an unimpressed face, though failing. "You bests have my coffee! You left me on fucking read and I am going to go "Lima Heights" on your toned ass if you didn't grab it."
"You are not touching that toned ass," Another recognizable voice called out with sass that had not disappeared over the years.
"Oh, you're going to stop me? How has that worked out for you in the past?" The first voice challenged as the group presumably walked closer to the dressing room. "If Fozzie doesn't have my coffee, it's happening."
"Stop the violence..." A third voice added and at that point Foster couldn't stop the laugh that had built up.
Kurt let out a slightly annoyed sigh, "Some things never change." He looked at Foster, "Tell me you have that coffee."
Foster smirked like the Cheshire Cat, holding up said coffee, "I'll give you the coffee if you tie my bow tie!" Foster called out.
"Seriously?" The first voice answered with amusement in her voice.
"It's Frosty." The third voice said as if that explained everything. Sadly it did.
A genuine belly laugh echoed out in the hall, one that only one person had. Again warmth filled Foster. "How is it after all these years you don't know how to tie one, what would you do without me?" The second voice asked as the three appeared in the doorway.
Foster took them in, the smirk faded into one of the softest smiles any of them had ever seen. "Life without you? Without any of you? I don't even know what it would have looked like. I never would have begun my journey."
