You are my sunshine

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine"

His hand caressed my cheeks as his soothing voice echoed through the night. Laying there in my arms as tears rolled down my eyes, he smiled so gently at me and his touch felt so warm. His fingertips shook as they glided across my face.

"You're crying again, sweetheart..." his voice spoke and I tried my best to hold my tears back. "You shouldn't be crying. I'll tease you again if you don't stop crying like a baby...." his voice shook and broke near the end and he coughed up blood.

"You make me happy when skies are gray"

"Stop singing already!" I pull him closer and sob even more.

"But you...like it when I sing," he manages to chuckle and his eyes swell up with tears as he raises both of his hands to wipe mine off.

"You'll never know dear, how much I love you"

He continued singing, his voice comforting and yet painful at the same time.

My heart ached. I don't want him to leave me. Not like this. Not like any way at all. I don't want him gone.

There was blood in my hands. The wound kept bleeding and the ambulance was nowhere to be seen. His eyes stared into mine. They were sparkling against the moonlight and they fluttered as they struggled to stay open.

"You'll never know, dear, how much I love you

Please don't take my sunshine away"
