Things had started going out of hand. The flourishing business had invited rivals to their haven. They could no longer do as they wished, Jeonghan's parents had become hideous and scary. They distanced themselves from their relatives and family friends. Jeonghan couldn't help but grow sensitive to this environment. To distract himself from this and convince himself that everything was still under control, he started bullying Han Jisung.

March 18th

It was the most painful day in the boy's life. His parents left the world. The business rivalry had murdered them. During the past few months, Jeonghan had emotionally distanced himself from his parents. Yet, he was shaken to the core by the incident. Now, he had no one left in this world for him. In the world of the rich, all that matters are connections with wealthier people, Jeonghan, with his wealth gone, was of no use to anyone. Add to that, the fact that he had become a bully, everyone despised him now.

On the day of the funeral, he noticed a couple of unknown men. They were wearing long coats and masks. Normally, Jeonghan would have gotten scared of them, but now he has nothing to lose anymore. All he had once, was now gone. Once the procession was done, they approached him with a strict expressions on their face.

"Hey Jeonghan, my name is Lee Jaesuk," the taller one spoke, "and this is my partner Kim Minseok."

"Are you both someone my parents knew?"

"Yes, Jeonghan,"

"We're from the Korean Intelligence Agency [KIA]." They flashed their identity cards.

Your father was a comrade. When he realised the fact that his rivals were trying to kill him, he asked us a favour."

"What favour?" Jeonghan asked,

"To admit you into KIA if both of them die."

"We're here to take you to KIA. Come with us, we'll introduce you to a new way of life."

They manipulated him until he finally gave in. Jeonghan had finally become a trainee at KIA, although everything felt new and uncomfortable, he knew that there was no going back from here.

He was walking around when a boy caught his attention. He was looking like a foreigner.

"Trainee 1009, don't walk around with that look of yours!"

The boy was extremely annoyed and wanted to curse but the instructor would understand so he just cursed in french,

"Connard! Fais chier,"

Once the instructor was gone, Jeonghan approached the boy.

"Hey, you speak french?"

"Well I'm french, so I speak french," he spoke nonchalantly.

"Then how did you end up here?"

"My father brought me along on a so-called 'business trip'. Turned out he was dealing illegal drugs. He was sent to jail. I'm still young, so they're probably trying to brainwash me and see if I can be of some use to them. How about you?"

"My parents were killed by some business rivals, so they brought me here."

"The name's Pierre by the way, Pierre Dubois." He offered his hand.

"Jeonghan," He smiled and shook his hands.

From then on, they became the best of friends. Since both of them were from wealthy families, they detested being in KIA.

The meals were distasteful and the training hours were rough. They were taught how to code and break into systems. They were taught to fight and stalk people. They were given psychology lessons to brainwash people. They were given manipulating speeches by the instructors that they were training so hard in order to serve the nation as undercover agents. But Pierre and Jeonghan were unshakeable though. They've had enough of it and started making plans to escape.

Three years later

One fine day, when it was raining hard and a storm was anticipated to come, there was a power outage at the dorm. Taking the advantage of this opportunity, they packed up and ran away.

No one knew that they escaped before the next morning. Till that time, they had reached far away from the training centre. They were free now. They were finally alive. It felt like being born again.

Now that they were in the normal world, they needed to earn money. But being in KIA, they could not get any formal degree. They tried to become waiters in restaurants and cleaners in shopping malls. But this was not what they had wanted. Never in their lives had they done these kinds of jobs before, and after working so hard they could earn very little money.

They thought more and more about this and realised what they were skilled at. It was stalking people, fighting and hacking systems. This was right up their alley.

This is how two twenty-year-old guys became assassins.
