TW// Self-harm
Maxine woke up the next morning after breaking up with Lukas. Everything in the world felt so heavy. Even her blanket felt like it was suffocating her.
She sat up in bed and stretched, trying to bring some life to herself. A knock on her door helped her speed up the process of waking up.
"Yeah?" Max responded to the knocking, hoping it was her mom coming to apologize.
Billy opened the door and walked in with a plastic bag in his hands. "Morning bitch face."
"Good morning?" Max wondered how her brother managed to be the biggest asshole, yet he was helping her. "What's in the bag?"
Billy threw the bag on her bed and stepped out of the room again. "Your little friend Jane dropped it off."
"Oh, okay?" Max opened the bag and looked in. She couldn't help but smile stupidly while pulling out the box of eggos. "She's so stupid..."
"Yeah she doesn't seem too bright." Billy scoffed. "Do you need anything?"
"No..." Max put the box of eggos aside, she'd bring them to the freezer later.
"Alright...well I'm going out. Call if you need anything." Billy was being way nicer than usual. He felt like he owed it to Max.

Max spent her Saturday in her room avoiding her mom. Her mother loved her, but she didn't believe her.
Her phone kept ringing, but she ignored it. It was Jane, and Max wasn't feeling up to a girl's talk right now.
By the evening Max had slipped so deep into her emotions, she was starting to scare herself. She sat on the bathroom counter, staring at her own face. In her hand was the blade she had stole from her brother prior. He knew about it, but never took it from her.
Max rolled up her sleeves, looking in disappointment at her small scars. They were easily played off as skateboard related injuries. Although this time Max didn't plan on teasing death.
Maxine pulled up her headphones to cover her ears. She pressed play, and let the tune calm her nerves. It was a song Lukas had sent her a few weeks ago. She thought it was dumb at first, but it grew on her. Sometimes he would sing the song to her when she was being stubborn, she wished he was singing it to her now.
Max put the sharp end of the blade against her wrist, but she couldn't bring herself to push. She cried uncontrollably, subtly rocking to cope. No matter how badly she wanted to die, she couldn't do it.
She paused the music and dialed somebody's number instead.
Lukas jumped up from his desk when his phone rang, he jumped again when he saw it was Max. "Hello?"
"I need you..." Max whispered.
"Where?" Lukas held the phone with his shoulder and started putting his homework away.
"Home..." Max sniffled.
"Okay, I'm on my way to your place now. Hold on there, I'll only be a minute." Lukas was already out the door before he hung up.
When he arrived at Max's house, she was sitting on the front steps. Lukas ran to her and sat next to her. "I got here as fast as I could, are you okay?"
Max slowly looked at him, and shook her head. "No..."
Lukas opened his arms. "That's okay...do you want a hug?"
Maxine threw herself in Lukas' arms, trying to relax as he gripped her tightly.
"It's okay, I'm here..." Lukas rubbed her back. "Where do you want to go?"
