Another summer

intro/chapter 1- lexi

Before the story starts, i want to tell everyone that i am a new creator and writer to wattpad and i would really love it for people to read my books! thank you and enjoy!

I adjust my surf suit down at the angles and on my wrists. I think I got the wrong size.
          I pick up the surfboard just right next to me, and I bend up, my eyes now looking at the pink, yellow, and orange sunset. I'm only a couple far feet away from the ocean, which is good because then I don't have to step on the seashells. I love seashells, really, it's just that the ones at this beach have always been sharp.
         I start walking, and all I can hear are the waves crashing and the seagulls.
"Lexi! Lexi!"
          I love surfing. My dad is a surfer, although he doesn't do it very often anymore. He taught me when I was 6 and ever since, I always loved the beach. We used to live in New York, until my dad got a new job here in Malibu.
           "Lexi, my god!" I hear, as I turn around to see what's going on. It was my mom, and she was running up to me. I was surprised because she doesn't really step foot on the sand. She has a fear of the sand for some reason. She was wearing her go-to flip flops, which was usually all around the house because she had so many. She had a claw clip in her hair, which was mine.
                She also had a piece of paper in her hand, which was   all crumbled up. She put it foward in front of her, and handed it towards me. I read a little bit before I grabbed it, and all I saw were the words, "Congratulations!" and "Summer" on it. I then grabbed it and uncrumbled it while reading.
Dear Lexi,
Congratulations! Due to the auction held in Austin, Texas online, you have been chosen to a paradise island with 5 other winners! We would love for you and your family to donate to this community project!
             I stop myself from reading and took a moment to figure out what the heck I just read.
"Hold on mom. I don't get it. What auction in Texas? You and dad never would do anything like that. What even is this? What does it mean by 'community project?'"
    My mom looks at me and then looks down at the paper.
       "Keep reading it."
5 other students have been elected from each school. If you don't know the schools and the names of the students, here they are in the following:
- Ocean High: Hannah (15)
- Ravens Claw High: Josh (16)
- Eastern High: Sofi (16)
- Falcons High School: Ryan (15)
- Redwood High: Lexi (15)
- Blue Valley High School: Paul (16)
All students will meet once landed. The location will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tickets for plane have been sent out to the email. If you didn't get an email, please contact oceancommunity@gmail.com. All students will be on the same plane but not sitting near other. Allowing parents to go are optional, but it is not restricted. I look down more, and I realize my moms signature is written at the bottom and below it says, "Child Signature". I look up, to discover that my mom is already staring at me.
          "Do you want to do it?" she says, "You don't have too, but it's a good chance for you to be social and actaully have something to do other than... surfing."
I honestly don't even know what to say. I mean, I just can't say yes right away! Ive never seen or heard about these people before and now I might have to spend a whole summer with them.
          I look down at the paper again and see a blank line, waiting to be signed. I gulped, probably loud enough for the whole world to hear. I sigh and look at my mom, who's already staring at me with her attentive face. I don't know what to do.
