CHAPTER 23

STELLA'S POV

I woke up that morning to dad's angry voice; he was complaining to mom about my childishness, and behaviour.

Mom too was angry but she tried to be calm, so that dad's Bp won't rise up. She tried calming dad down but he is as stubbon as i am, or should I say I am as stubborn as he is.

I just quietly listened from my room while still pretending to be asleep.

20 minutes later dad calmed down; and the started another conversation.

Mom asked dad if he knows what is going on between me and Damian; she believes there is rift between us. She now suggested dad call the both of us and enquire what is wrong, and also our future plan.

Dad said there is no problem with the suggestion, but then that will be when damian comes back.

Mom didn't understand what dad meant by come back since damian is supposed to be in the country.

Dad now broke damian's travel news to mom. I couldn't help but hear it; I ran out immediately and enquired what he was talking about.

"I was with Damian yesterday night" I told them.

"You mean you weren't aware" mom asked

"Why will she when all she does is to carry shoulder up; simple calm down and listen your daughter won't" dad said sounding angry.

Anyways his company is facing big challenges currently; so they sent a representative to rush down and pick him up. When he dropped you here yesterday he begged me to allow him travel back to London with both you and Amarachi.

My outing yesterday was to talk to your uncle's about it; he wanted to bring his family to pay your bride price first, so that he will be able to go with you. That was before the representative news came. He gave me an ATM card to finance everything since he will be very busy with some documents.

He gave me another update concerning the representative and his early morning trip. He begged I let him take you since he doesn't know when he will be done with the issue at the company" dad narrates

It turns out that my dad has been damian's bestie all this time; they have been planning my future since, but as usual I messed it all up.

I recalled immediately him telling me to come inside that he has something he wanted to tell me; the trip must be the gist.

That moment I couldn't help but beat up myself for messing up my opportunity to be with the love of my life.

I ran back inside my room and wept; the worst is that I don't know when he will come back again.

I went online immediately and saw his new messages; he apologized for putting me in an uncomfortable situation, and for always being the reason why I cried.

I got a notification on my phone, and it was concerning OTF allegations. They headline of the news says that the Ceo of OTF has been charged to court for defamation of agreements, money laundering, and financial fraud.

I am not a fan of news, not to consider internation gists, so I closed the box and dropped my phone back on the bed.

Minutes later my brother, Gabriel called me to ask if I didn't see the news concerning OTF. I asked him who OTF is, and he told me that OTF is one of damian's core investors.

I opened my phoenix browser immediately and saw the previous headline. I opened it and read the news; I went to the comments section and saw that people are talking about how damian's company has refused to cut Mr Dutch of OTF off there business.

People believe DAMIAN'S company will undergo bashing if things doesn't go well for Mr Dutch at the court.

Some commend his bravery and his ability to take risk, while some called him foolish.

A particular account insulted his business strategy; they said that he is building business with sentiment, and that isn't supposed to be.

They believe that DAMIAN'S company will be the first to fall if things goes south since it is a new company.

Reading those comments I knew immediately why damian had to go back; I am here acting and sulking like a cry baby while he takes hits, gets attacked, and faces whole lot of challenges.

I got another call and it was from the hospital; I didn't want to pick because of last time. Then a message came, Dr Authority wanted to know if I wasn't coming for my treatment today.

Actually I didn't also go for last night shot, and today's is supposed to be the last. I ignored the message still; she then threatened to call my fiancee, as she identified him.

I never told her that he is my fiancee, so I didn't know how she found out. At the hospital she thought we were siblings, but now this.

I ran to the hospital; when I got there she was busy with a patient, so I had to wait.

Soon it reached my turn and another doctor wanted to attend to me, but I objected. I specifically told him that Dr Authority is my doctor, and besides I had something personal to discuss with her.

25 minutes later she was done and attended to me. After administering my shot to me, I asked how she found out about damian being my fiancee.

She then narrated her conversation with Damian that day to me. She told me that Damian told her about his relationship with me, our child and how he isn't ready to harbor whatever feelings Authority may have for him.

Immediately hot tears rolled down my cheeks; I couldn't help but wail like a baby searching for her mom; just that this time I am searching for my man, and not my mom.

I went home counting my mistakes, and how toxic I was with him the past 2 days that he was with us.

He had work to do, but chose to come home to us, but I welcomed him with anger, hatred and resentment.
