Shinso loved sunflowers. They were just so tall, yellow and elegant. He never thought his own grave would be decorated with them, though. He was now confined as a ghost to haunt the earth.

It wasn't always like this, though. Not so long ago, actually, he was a living human being. A very loved human being, in fact.

Shinso tried to keep from hyperventilating as he knocked on Ojiro's door, holding a bouquet of sunflowers behind him. 'you got this Hitoshi, just say that you love him…'

When Ojiro opened the door, he was met with a red faced and flustered looking Shinso. "Do you need something Shinso?"

"Uh, yeah…" He replied, revealing the bouquet to the shorter man, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Would you… like to go out… with me?" Shinso asked hesitantly. Ojiro smiled and gladly accepted the flowers.

"I'd love to, that is, if I get to pay for ice cream." He smiled that warm, gentle smile Shinso always melted for.

"Okay… Friday at three?"

"I'll be there, cutie." Ojiro teased, winking at his now partner before returning to his dorm, leaving Shinso there in a gay panic.

Shinso continued to bawl his eyes out as his blonde dad slowly rocked them back and forth, holding him in his arms. It broke Hizashi's heart to see his son like this, he tried to keep his own tears away from the wrenching sight.

"Shhhh… I know Toshi, I know… it wasn't his choice to move, darling, you have to understand that." Hizashi said softly, in a weak attempt to calm Shinso before he started crying too.

"It doesn't change the fact that he's still gone!" Hitoshi sobbed, gripping his Papa's shirt tight. "I just want him back!" Hizashi cursed himself as tears silently fell down his own cheeks. "I know, kiddo... I'm sorry..."

Shinso stood at the edge of the roof, ready to jump at any moment. Everything always went wrong, no matter what, the universe always had to make it hard for him. But duck the universe, because he was taking his date into his own hands now. He was going to spite the universe and everyone else who made his life hell.

Abused for the first eleven years of his life, homeless for two, bullied and harassed for his quirk, assaulted as if it was taking a walk. He couldn't live with the memories anymore. He could still feel their soft touches on his skin, a harsh contrast to how utterly rough they were.

Tears streamed down his face, but he was smiling. A truly happy smile. He was finally doing it. All the pain, the suffering, all of it was going to be over. The universe seemed silent now, as if it were rethinking its past actions.

Shinso had always thought about taking his life. Who wouldn't if they'd been through what he had? The one thing that finally broke the chord between staying and leaving was being slapped by Aizawa, one out of three people he thought would never, ever, hit him.

Shinso and Aizawa continued to scream at each other, the volume so loud that the neighbors were likely concerned. Shinso didn't even remember how the argument started, but it was escalating faster than the speed of sound.

"I hate you! I wish you never found me on that street corner! You should've let me die! That's what was supposed to happen but you cheated me out of it!!" Shinso screamed angrily, tears welling in his eyes.

"Fuck you too! I should've left your ungrateful ass alone to die, I work and slave and drop everything for you, brat!!" Aizawa screamed back. It wasn't like him to get so angry, he was always the logical one, trying to keep his husband out of jail for picking fights.

"If you hate me so much then why don't you just get rid of me?! It's very fucking clear that you love Eri more than me!"

"I was planning on it! I regret training a villainous kid like you! I'm surprised anyone actually loved you!"

"At least my friends love me a hell of a lot more than I love myself! I wake up every morning and wish I hadn't because you're such an overbearing asshole and only remind me of the fucker that hurt me for eleven fucking years!"

Hizashi was about to intervene, the screaming flaring his anxiety like bugs did, when a loud noise of skin against skin echoed through the now silent house.

Aizawa had hit him. Shinso was on the floor from the impact, tears falling down his cheeks as he backed up into the corner.

"I-I'm s-sorry, d-d-don't h-hu-hurt m-m-m-me pl-please." He said shakily, eyes wide with fear. He placed a hand in his cheek, which was bright red and swollen, a bruise already starting to form.

Aizawa quickly realized what he did, guilt washing over him in thick, suffocating waves. He tried approached Shinso and attempted to apologise. "Hitoshi, I'm so-"

"No! Get away from me! Don't touch me, please!!" He shrieked, curling up into a ball, trembling. The lavenderette wailed as memories flashed, dancing behind his eyelids like they were a lucid dream.

Aizawa knew he fucked up. He fucked up bad. "I'm sorry.." he said before leaving, immediately getting yelled at by his husband. Hizashi was pissed. "Get the fuck out." Aizawa frowned, but left. Hizashi then went to check on Hitoshi.

And now he was here, his legs dangling off the edge, the sound of sirens slowly getting closer. He sighed. "Guess I better do it now…" he removed his shoes and left his note under them.

He took another swig of gin, the alcohol giving him a dose of courage. He looked in the direction of where his Papa would be. "I'm sorry Papa… I love you." We're his final words.

The funeral was exceptionally rough. Aizawa and Hizashi barely spoke to each other during the service. afterwards, poor Eri had to stay with Mirio or Deku full time due to the two fighting, blaming each other for their son's death.

It wasn't long after when they got a divorce, Aizawa taking Eri with him. It broke Hizashi. His best friend, then his son, and now his husband and daughter. He broke ties with his friends and quit his gig as a teacher, he even dropped his DJ career.

He visited Hitoshi every day, leaving a sunflower and a picture of him and Hitoshi every time. But it was only delaying the inevitable. Hizashi placed the flowers and pictures at his son's stone, crying quietly.

"Papa's gonna be with you soon, Hitoshi. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I'm all alone, they all left me. I'm afraid all the time, and I can't live like this anymore, without you or Sho or Eri." He placed a hand on the stone, leaning his head on it and crying harshly.

"I promise, I'll keep you safe this time. I love you Toshi, see you soon."
